The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 188

Megan spoke loftily, while Audrey stayed silent, merely listening to their conversation.

Kara, on the other hand, couldn't take it any longer and jumped in. She had never liked Nolan and thought it was horrible how Megan, the woman she admired most, had suffered because of him.

"That despicable scoundrel! I knew from the start that he wasn't good company, but I'd never imagined it was this bad.

"How dare that bastard even think about getting together with Audrey? Over my dead body! As long as I'm around, he'll never get his way.

"Thankfully, Audrey has come to her senses and decided to cut him off. Otherwise, even if it kills me, I won't let them be together!"

Kara seemed more enraged than Megan as if it were her parents who had been wronged instead of Megan's family.

Kara's outburst took Megan and Jeanne by surprise. What did she mean Audrey had come to her senses and decided to cut him off? Was Kara really talking about Audrey? It didn't seem believable.

Audrey shook her head and said, "Nothing happened. I just came to my senses. Besides, I already made the decision you wanted to see, so there's no point in asking further questions, is there?"

Megan wasn't sure if she was happy or upset right now, but she knew that Audrey and Nolan being together made her angry. It felt as though Audrey had taken something that belonged to her.

"Fine, but Audrey, do you honestly think a simple separation is enough? Since you've made this decision, you must have seen through Nolan's true nature. So whether it's to make him give up completely or to prove your commitment to cut ties, you should act decisively and leave no room for regrets."
