Was it possible for Audrey to reconcile with Megan though?
Audrey didn't tell Kara about all this. Besides, she thought maybe it was best to make Nolan give up on her completely if he happened to like her too.
Shaun had always disliked Nolan. If Nolan was also fond of Audrey, Shaun might go against him. She wouldn't know what to do by then.
And now, she could only prevent anything that would harm Nolan from happening. She had no other choice even if she would hurt Nolan.
Soon, Audrey drove to the restaurant with Kara. The restaurant wasn't big and could only accommodate three tables. The environment was beautiful, and it was a famous restaurant that served customized cuisine.
When Audrey and Kara arrived there, Megan, Jeanne, and Blake were sitting in a quaint-looking room.
Kara ran up to Megan as soon as she saw her, as though she had seen her own sister. She happily said, "Megan, I'm here. I didn't know you'd booked this restaurant. I've never been here before."
Megan smiled faintly and looked proud as she said, "It's hard to book a table at Classic Delight. It is fully booked for the next six months. I know the boss here, so I'm an exception. I can come here anytime as I wish."
Of course, Megan should boast about this. Classic Delight was more than just a restaurant. Megan had received a lot of help from the restaurant's owner.
"Megan, I've heard that the boss is really mysterious. No one has seen him before. Besides, he's really capable, and there's nothing he can't do. You can even befriend him. You're truly impressive, Megan."
Megan smiled and replied, "Mr. Fowler is indeed amazing. Besides, he values his friends. I've been receiving help from him, so I'm really grateful to him. It's such a pity that he isn't around today. If not, I could've introduced him to you.
"Okay. Let's stop talking about this. Come in and have a seat."
Just then, Kara saw Jeanne. Although she still wore a smile, she wasn't as friendly as how she was when she talked to Megan just now.
"Jeanne, you're here. You're getting prettier and prettier."
Jeanne glanced at Kara and grinned. "You're more youthful and prettier than me, Kara. Ha ha! Have a seat."
It was just an act of courtesy. Jeanne obviously wasn't interested in Kara.
It wasn't completely Jeanne's fault though. She was also Audrey's best friend. Kara had treated them differently when they met back then, but it hadn't been too obvious.
Back then, Kara had been more friendly to Jeanne than Megan when she met them. What happened now?
Megan had great achievements and was now a CEO while Jeanne had become Megan's assistant. There was a big difference in terms of their status and wealth. Hence, Kara's action seemed understandable.
"Of course, you were right that I asked you out because of something. I've introduced Mr. Norwich to you just now. I've specially invited him here because I was worried you had been deceived.
"Mr. Norwich is the son of the owner of Norwich. You can't trust others, but you should trust him. Especially when it's regarding something from Norwich. Mr. Norwich surely is in a position to say something.
"Audrey, I did this for your sake. I was afraid that you had been deceived. I hope you don't get me wrong."
Just then, Jeanne said with a smile, "Exactly. Audrey, do you know that Megan couldn't sleep at night because of your matter? She was worried that you would be deceived by Nolan.
"You're the purest and kindest among us, and you get deceived easily. If Nolan targeted you and lied to you, we'd be unhappy.
"Considering Nolan's financial status, did you really think Nolan could afford the Crystal of Devotion that was close to one hundred million dollars?"
Right then, Blake's eyes shone as he held the cup. He took a sip of the tea without saying anything. He hadn't been familiar with Nolan before this, but he knew it too well now.
Although Blake seemed like he was fooling around and still kept his habits from these years, he had his ambitions deep down. It was Nolan who had enlightened him.
Blake wondered if they were referring to the Nolan he knew.
