The price of betrayal (Jack and Ashley) novel Chapter 152

As all the decisions were being made, no one bothered to ask for Nolan's opinion.

He watched the men about to surrender with a faint smile on his lips. "It seems that I'm the main character in this game, yet no one has even asked for my opinion."

Lincoln looked at Nolan with a smile. "Mr. Greene, the danger has been temporarily neutralized. Rest assured, as long as we're here, no one will harm you."

Nolan chuckled. "Is it really worth it to go against Gregory for my sake?"

Was it worth it? That was a good question. One misstep in this situation would result in more than just a simple apology. It could lead to the complete destruction of the Baxter family.

Gregory was infamous in the entire Eastern State underworld for his ruthlessness. If they angered him, the Baxter family's fate would be all too predictable.

It was because of this that Lincoln and Archie had initially hesitated to do this. They had even thought about calling up Gregory and begging for his favor, but eventually decided against it.

Their decision to go against Gregory and protect Nolan was not just because of his incredible medical skills, but also because they sensed that Nolan was no ordinary person.

Moreover, Nolan had powerful connections like Amos, who might not be as influential as Gregory, but he certainly had the ability to make himself heard in front of him.

Hence, in Archie and Lincoln's opinion, it was not the worst case scenario.

Lincoln said, "Mr. Greene, you're a benefactor of the Baxter family. It's only right for us to do what we can for you. If we let fear prevent us from protecting you, we would become a laughingstock.

Meanwhile, the three men looked uneasy upon hearing the conversation between Nolan and Lincoln. They knew of Amos' reputation and had assumed the matter could be settled peacefully with a little give and take.

However, instead of settling on this compromise, Nolan now said he wanted them dead? They were infuriated.

"Bastard! We haven't killed you yet, and you dare say you want to kill us? You really deserve to die," the leader of the three men yelled.

"Lincoln, this is the man you're protecting? This ignorant brat saying he wants us dead like we're nothing—you're protecting him?" the second man said, furious.

"Nolan, who do you think you are? Do you really think just because Lincoln is protecting you, we won't kill you?" the third man added.
