The Perfect Wife's Perfect Revenge novel Chapter 923

Leonie was only thinking about how to escape, but Dorian had completely given up. Every day, he simply accepted his fate.

He ignored her lectures, quietly eating his meal. Leonie was so angry she could barely breathe.

After finishing the food, Dorian finally looked up at her.

"You're the heiress of the Everhart family. You don't know what real suffering is. This food is a luxury. When I was a kid in the countryside, a drought hit, and we had absolutely nothing to eat.

"My dad married my stepmom, and she couldn't care less if I lived or died. I lived with my grandmother. We had no food, so we had to beg.

"Forget Felicia's meals. Back then, if someone gave us moldy crusts of bread, we would hide them in our coats and treasure them, too afraid to eat them all at once."

Leonie couldn't wrap her head around what he was saying. Pampered her whole life, she had never known true poverty.

Forget moldy bread; she barely knew what normal, cheap bread tasted like. The Everharts only dined on gourmet meals and fine delicacies.

Dorian glanced at her and slowly cleared away his empty plate.

They had been locked in the basement for days. The only illumination was the sickly yellow bulb overhead. Their phones had been confiscated, cutting off all contact with the outside world.

Her biggest regret was lying to her parents, telling them she was visiting Gwyneth. Gwyneth knew she was with Dorian, so if her parents asked, Gwyneth would naturally cover for her.

It was the perfect alibi, which meant absolutely no one knew she was missing, and no one was looking for her.

Leonie stared at Dorian, furious at his lack of fight.

"Are you really going to let this woman own you?"

"I already told you to leave it alone," Dorian replied. "If you keep pushing, you won't get out of here either. Once Felicia cools down, go back to your perfect life. We were never from the same world, so there's no point trying to force us together. I appreciate everything you've done for me, but Felicia is furious."

Leonie marched over and delivered two stinging slaps to his face.

"You spineless coward! Fine, go crawling back to her! But don't you dare regret it later. I am done helping you."

Dorian knew that with that slap, he had completely lost Leonie. But it didn't matter anymore.

A man with the life of a peasant couldn't control his own destiny. He had surrendered. He would belong to Felicia for the rest of his life.

They were locked in the basement for five full days before Felicia finally appeared. She looked down at Dorian.

"Well? Have you made up your mind?"
