When Zachary suddenly turned around, Anya wanted to bury herself alive. She froze for a moment and immediately put her fist down. Then, she smiled awkwardly yet politely.
"I've been working the whole morning, Mr. Lloyd. So, my arms are a little sore, and I'm stretching them a little," she said with a blushing face. Even she wouldn't believe such an excuse herself.
Zachary coldly looked at her and asked, "Are you humiliating your own intelligence or mine?"
She kept her head down and didn't dare to say a single word. Anya was utterly embarrassed when she was caught taunting Zachary from behind.
"Where was I?" After seeing her antics, he lost his train of thought. He knew what he wanted to say earlier, but he couldn't remember it any longer.
"Forget it. I'll just see you again when I remember it later!" Since he couldn't figure it out, he decided to stop trying for now.
After he left the CEO's office, he closed the door behind him.
Anya spat on the ground and softly scolded, "That damn capitalist!"
…
That afternoon, there was an appointment notification in the company group chat.
"The intern from the business department has been transferred to the marketing department and will be the deputy manager."
Upon seeing the news, everyone in the company was stunned. They couldn't believe a mere intern could become the deputy manager of the marketing department in less than a month. So, they wondered if Zachary was pulling some strings from behind the scenes.
Even his colleagues in the business department had the same thought, let alone people from other departments.
"Tell me the truth, Zachary. What's your relationship with Ms. Wayne?"
"Previously, Ms. Wayne invited him to have lunch together. Back then, I'd already suspected his secret relationship with her."
"Don't tell me you're Ms. Anya's relative, you brat! You're older than her. Could you be her cousin?"
"Godfather, are you trying to revolution? No way! I need to cut ties with you!"
"See you, my brother. I'll miss you!"
"Every journey has its ending. I wish you good luck!"
At first, those people were surrounding him passionately. Suddenly, they were out of his sight in no time.
At that moment, Charles approached Zachary and shoved a pack of cigarettes into the latter's pocket. Then, he patted Zachary's shoulder.
"Hey, Zachary. There's always a path for us. Just do your best, and you might be able to turn the tides. I believe in you!"
Upon hearing that, Zachary felt warm inside.
