The Night I Let Go novel Chapter 32

Ten minutes later, the food was served.

Ethan filled Wendy's bowl with some chicken soup and said, "Wendy, you've been working hard at the company lately. Have some chicken soup to keep your strength up."

"Thank you," Wendy replied while nodding gently.

At this moment, Ellen began her own act. She suggested, "Zac, this spicy lobster is tasty. Give it a try!"

She held a freshly peeled lobster near Zachary's mouth.

Zachary looked at Ellen in surprise.

Ellen quickly raised an eyebrow at him, making him chuckle as he took the bite.

"It's indeed delicious," Zachary said before chewing and swallowing the food.

Ellen responded with a joyful smile, "Great! I'll learn the recipe and cook it just for you next time!"

"Alright." Zachary nodded with a smile.

Suddenly, Wendy slammed her cutlery on the table.

The loud noise immediately escalated the tension in the room.

Wendy's chest heaved with anger as she fixed a furious glare on Zachary. "Zachary, haven't you had enough of this?"

"What do you mean?" Zachary feigned innocence.

"You're my husband, but you're flaunting your affection with my best friend! Do you think that's appropriate?" Wendy scolded.

Then, she let out a bitter laugh. "I get it. You're upset because I didn't invite you to this reunion. So, now you're putting on this show with Ellen to provoke me.

"Do you think this will make me mad? Do you think this can get me to give in and apologize to you?"

At this revelation, their classmates' eyes widened in shock.

Wendy's face turned pale as she gritted her teeth. "Without my agreement to the divorce, you're still my husband. What you're doing now is practically cheating!"

"I'm cheating?" Zachary scoffed.

Ignoring Wendy, he looked over at Ethan. His smile deepened as he asked, "Then, what about you two? You're always together. Isn't that also considered cheating?"

Wendy immediately explained, "Ethan is just my best friend. Beyond that, we're just colleagues!"

"He's your ex-boyfriend turned best friend, and now he's your colleague?" Zachary scoffed.

Suddenly, he took Ellen's hand and said, "Fine, then. Ellen is also my best friend. Do you have anything to say about that?

"Oh, and not only is she my best friend, but she's also an important client of mine! Is it a problem for me to accompany a client to her class reunion?"
