Jacob had a reputation among the five patriarchs for being good at pretty much everything. When it came to hand-to-hand combat, though, he was practically unstoppable in DM. Most people couldn’t even last three moves against him.
Nine was tough, sure, but there was no way she could match a guy’s strength or stamina. Newell watched the whole thing from the sidelines, calm as ever.
On the surface, it looked like Jacob had the upper hand. Every one of his attacks was sharp and dangerous, and Nine was stuck on defense, barely hanging in there. But if you watched closely, you’d see that Nine was moving fast and clean. She dodged every hit like it was nothing, barely breaking a sweat.
Meanwhile, Jacob was going all out, burning through his energy way too quickly. It was obvious he wouldn’t be able to keep it up for long.
Newell couldn’t help but watch Charlotte with a hint of a smile. This wasn’t just a fight. It was a total shutout.
The patriarchs never accepted dead weight. But compared to her, everyone else didn’t even qualify as dead weight. Even Newell wasn’t sure he’d do any better if he stepped up.
Jacob tightened his fists and threw all his strength into a punch aimed straight at Charlotte.
Charlotte’s eyes narrowed. She bent backwards, almost parallel to the floor, and caught his wrist like it was nothing.
For a second, everything froze.
Then Charlotte straightened up and launched a roundhouse kick that landed right in Jacob’s chest.
He flew backward, stumbling several steps before he managed to catch himself. He was gasping for air, his face pale as a ghost.
“Jacob!”
The other four patriarchs jumped to their feet.
Charlotte just dusted off her hands, her expression calm. She raised an eyebrow and said, “What, you think staring is going to help?”
The four patriarchs exchanged a look, then all jumped into the fight at once.
Five against one. Chaos broke out.
Down below, the crowd that had been cheering Jacob on started falling silent, watching Charlotte pull off moves they’d never even seen before.
“I’ve never seen the five patriarchs look this desperate,” someone muttered.
