The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 986

Jacob looked over at Newell, his brow creased with determination. “If Nine can prove she’s got what it takes, we’ll follow her. No questions asked.”

He’d been with Newell long enough to know exactly what kind of man he was. But this? He just couldn’t figure out why Newell wanted Nine on the Patriarch team.

Down in the crowd, everyone nodded along with Jacob’s words. DM had always been a place where strength ruled. Nobody here respected the weak.

“Alright.” Before Newell could even open his mouth, Charlotte stood up and casually rolled her wrists. She looked completely bored. “So, are you all coming at me at once, or do you want to go one by one?”

Newell just watched her, silent.

The five Patriarchs didn’t say a word.

The rest of the members looked around, stunned.

She was so young, so cocky. Had life never smacked her down before?

“Wait a minute!” Bolton folded his arms and tipped his chin up, his confidence on full display. “We don’t want anyone saying the five of us ganged up on you. Let’s make it clear now, if you get hurt, don’t come crying later.”

Charlotte fluttered her lashes, unfazed. “Who’s crying?”

Bolton stared at her, completely thrown off.

Newell stayed quiet, settling in to watch the drama unfold.

The competition had five rounds. All Charlotte had to do was beat each of the five Patriarchs and she’d earn her spot as Chief Patriarch.

The first round was a hacking showdown.

Bolton took his seat at the computer and glanced at Charlotte, who looked cool as ever. He grinned. “Hacking isn’t like playing a video game. You can’t just mash some keys and expect to win.”
