Player Five had just gotten up from the table. He barely took two steps before he caught sight of Anthony’s cards, and his eyes went wide. Thirty-six points for him, eleven points for Anthony. And somehow, he lost.
“You…” He was so mad his face went white. He pointed at Charlotte, gasping for air. “You…”
He couldn’t get the words out. His breath caught, his eyes rolled back, and he dropped to the floor, knocked out by his own rage.
Scenes like this happened in the casino all the time. It didn’t take long for the staff to show up, faces blank, and drag the guy away like it was just another Tuesday.
Upstairs, on the second floor, a girl in a tight red dress leaned against the railing. She was all curves and confidence, a half-burned cigarette dangling between her fingers. Her eyes were fixed on the table below, more specifically on Anthony.
Rena came from The Hawk Family. She’d seen every kind of attractive man, had grown up with money and power. But the man down there was something else.
He had to be at least six-foot-three, dressed in black, with sharp, flawless features. There was this cool, distant vibe about him, like he didn’t care about anyone, but somehow that only made him more magnetic.
He was way more handsome than any guy she’d ever met. And when he looked at the girl next to him, there was this gentle warmth in his eyes that totally clashed with his icy energy. It made him even more fascinating.
Someone that perfect deserved to be with someone equally amazing.
Rena smirked, letting her gaze drift from Anthony over to Charlotte. Charlotte looked young, kind of pretty, but she was dressed plain and almost faded into the background. Rena’s eyes narrowed with a hint of scorn. She couldn’t believe someone like Anthony would bother with a girl so… ordinary.
“Rena.”
One of her assistants stepped up, speaking quietly. “We checked, but their bank info is hidden.”
