The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 827

Right now, inside a sleek black sports car, Newell lounged back in his seat, one pale arm draped over his forehead. His face was half-hidden, giving him this effortless, laid-back vibe, but the air around him was still tinged with that quiet, expensive confidence that seemed to draw people in.

“Newell, it’s done.”

At the sound of the voice, Newell let his hand drop and a faint smile flickered at the corner of his mouth. His voice was a little rough. “So, what’s the verdict? Anyone hurt?”

“There were injuries,” the subordinate admitted. “A lot of people went after Nine and Anthony, but we took care of them.”

“No one on Nine’s side got so much as a scratch. Anthony already left with her.”

There were only about ten of them in the group. Dodging that many killers was no easy feat. It was actually kind of impressive.

“Did Nine do anything?” Newell asked, still looking cool and unbothered.

If Nine had stepped in, it would make sense why things turned out the way they did.

“She barely lifted a hand,” the subordinate said, respectful as ever. Then he hesitated, remembering something. “But…”

“But what?”

“When things wrapped up, Franco’s men showed up. That’s when Nine stepped in and took them out.”

Franco?

That made Newell pause. His eyes darkened as he thought about what happened at the auction earlier. Franco had handed over so many vials to Charlotte, just to try to snatch them back after the fact? That didn’t add up. He knew a bit about Franco. The guy was ruthless, decisive. The type who wouldn’t stoop to dirty tricks like this.

“Did Franco’s people fight back?”

“Not really.” The subordinate thought for a second, then shook his head. “But honestly, once Nine moved, they never stood a chance.”

Newell slid both hands into his pockets, a soft smile playing on his pale lips as he gazed out the window. Evening was settling in, mist curling around outside, wrapping him in a dreamy haze. For a moment, he looked almost unreal, like someone too pure for this world.

“If Anthony can keep her safe, let her stay with him.”

She’ll be happier that way.

The subordinate was caught off guard.

Was Newell really just going to let Anthony have Nine? Was he really willing to let go?

Elsewhere, the housekeeper crept back to the presidential residence, head hanging, and reported everything that had just happened to Franco.
