The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 823

Anthony had barely finished speaking when the car behind them suddenly roared to life, engine blaring as it shot forward, ready to cut them off.

Their own car jolted hard.

“Charlotte, Anthony…” Hans gripped the wheel, voice tight with nerves. “Hold on.”

He spun the wheel fast, taking a sharp turn that finally put some distance between them and the cars chasing them. But even Hans had his limits. If he pushed it any more, there was no telling if the car would hold out.

The cars behind them weren’t giving up. Even after getting shaken off, they came tearing back, relentless as ever. Outnumbered, the cars from the N Organization that had been with them were quickly forced to the side of the road.

“Anthony…”

Charlotte lifted her lashes at the sound of Hans’ trembling voice, her eyes clear and steady as she looked at Anthony.

“Are you scared?” Anthony asked, gently buttoning her coat and settling her securely in her seat.

“What’s there to be scared of?” Charlotte answered, as calm as always. She leaned in, brushed a quick kiss on the corner of Anthony’s mouth, and smiled. “Anthony, you’re supposed to protect me.”

He grinned, soft and warm, and kissed her forehead. “Always. Hold on tight.”

Charlotte did as she was told, wrapping her hand around the handle. She glanced in the rearview mirror at the car still hot on their tail. “They’re seriously intense. Be careful.”

Hans could barely believe what he was hearing.

Were they really… flirting? Now?

This was a car chase. Someone was literally trying to kill them.

Only Charlotte and Anthony could keep their cool like this.

Anthony gave Charlotte a reassuring look, but as soon as he turned away, his face changed, all shadows and sharp lines.

“Get in the back.”

All at once, Jackson, Adonis, and Leif pulled their guns, ready for whatever was coming.

The city around them exploded into chaos.

“Head for the outskirts.”

“Head for the outskirts.”

Charlotte and Anthony spoke at the same time. They knew. Fighting here would only drag in innocent people. They needed to draw the chase somewhere safer.

Anthony’s lips curled up as he expertly turned the car, speeding toward the suburbs. There, the roads were wider, giving their pursuers more space to move—but also making it easier to pick them off.

Gunshots echoed behind them. Every time Anthony fired, another car went down.

“Lottie, reload.”
