The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 694

Apex Mediaworks, top floor.

Kenneth lounged on the sofa, legs stretched out on a chair, his good looks shadowed by a chill that lingered around him. He’d already seen the news blowing up online. They were calling him a fraud, accusing him of hiding a secret relationship. Fans were flooding his socials, demanding an explanation.

“Kenneth, has Charlotte picked up yet?” His assistant paced the room, voice tense.

PR had jumped into crisis mode, scrambling to put out the fire. This whole mess had started because Kenneth had always kept a clean record, never a single scandal. His rivals were desperate for dirt and now they finally had something to twist and exaggerate, hoping to bring him down.

“No, maybe she’s busy,” Kenneth replied, swinging his foot, playing it cool with a laid-back smile.

“If it gets worse...” The assistant chewed his lip, hesitant. “We could just say the girl in the photos is your sister. That would calm everyone down.”

It was the kind of trick that worked better than any official statement.

“No.” Kenneth shot him down, his voice icy without missing a beat.

“Lottie’s always wanted to keep her connection to the Gates family private. If I clear things up now, it’ll just drag her into this mess and make her upset.”

If Lottie didn’t want something, he’d never push her.

“What about your career?” The assistant frowned, clearly worried. If this drama kept spiraling, Kenneth would lose fans by the thousands. Brands and sponsors might start pulling out. Was Charlotte’s happiness really worth risking everything he’d worked for?

“You have no idea,” Kenneth snapped. “In the Gates family, nothing matters more than Charlotte.”

They’d already failed her once. They’d promised never to let her get hurt again.

“So yeah, my job and reputation aren’t as important as she is.”

The assistant stared, completely thrown off. He never expected Kenneth to risk everything for a sister he’d only recently found.

Before the shock could wear off, Kenneth’s phone started ringing. He glanced at the screen, hoping it was Lottie, but it was Donald instead.

“There’s another story about Lottie online,” Donald said, his voice cold. “What are you going to do?”

“I’m coming to your office,” Donald said before hanging up. “Keep trying to reach Lottie.”

Kenneth punched the air, jaw tight. “Find out who’s behind this.”

They could say whatever they wanted about him, but dragging Charlotte into it… There was no way he’d let them get away with it.

...

On the other side of the city, Carmelita lay on her dorm bed, taking screenshots of all the worst comments about Charlotte and sending them to Letty.

“Letty, I’ve put together the evidence and sent it to the International Medical Department.”

“Nice.”

Letty scrolled through the comments on her phone, a satisfied grin tugging at her lips.
