Charlotte glanced at Anthony with a soft smile, then lifted her half-finished milk and held it up for him. “Here, have some.”
Anthony looked a little confused, but opened his mouth and took a sip anyway. His eyes lingered on hers, a little darker than before.
“Drink some milk and calm down,” Charlotte teased. “Is it sweet?”
Anthony nodded. Honestly, it tasted sweeter than before.
Charlotte took the straw back and bit down on it, her eyes crinkling with a mischievous grin. “Anthony, are you jealous?”
He didn’t even try to deny it. Instead, he just stared at her, his gaze steady, then leaned in close until their noses touched. His voice was low and rough. “You like seeing me jealous, don’t you?”
“Yep.” Charlotte was in too good of a mood to hide it. She laughed and pinched his cheek. “I do. It makes me really happy.”
“You’re such a brat.” Anthony shook his head with a helpless smile, then dipped down and brushed a kiss against her lips. He’d walked away from a multi-billion dollar deal, put up with this uncomfortable fake skin, just to hang out and play adventure games with a bunch of students. And now she was messing with him on purpose.
“Relax,” Charlotte said, looking him right in the eyes. She blinked, then stood on tiptoe to plant a gentle kiss at the corner of his mouth. “You’re the only one I like.”
Only him. For her whole life.
Anthony felt the last bit of heaviness in his chest disappear. He couldn’t help but smile, thinking he’d probably be completely under Charlotte’s spell forever.
...
Charlotte rejoined the group.
Shirley spotted her pink cheeks right away and couldn’t help but ask, “Charlotte, where’d you go?”
Charlotte pressed her lips together, still a little out of breath. “I had to tie my shoe.”
“Oh.” Shirley turned to look behind her, just in time to see Everlot show up too. Her eyes widened. Didn’t they both disappear at the same time? And now they’re both back together? Wait, could it be…?
She quickly shook her head to clear away the wild thoughts and hurried over to where Stella was standing. No way. She shouldn’t let her imagination run wild. Charlotte wasn’t the kind of person who’d cheat or anything.
