"If the proposal fails..."
"It definitely won't."
Kenneth immediately shot back, brimming with confidence. "If she dares to turn down my proposal, I'll..."
"You'll what?"
Nestled comfortably in Anthony's arms, Charlotte toyed with his shirt button, pressing the question with an amused smile.
"Then I'll just keep asking until she says yes."
In this life, he belonged to Emily, and in death, he would still be hers.
No matter what, he was tying himself to her forever.
"Alright."
Charlotte's eyes curved into a smile, her tone turning sincere. "Good luck with the proposal, Kenneth."
She ended the call.
Charlotte scooped up a piece of cake and fed it to her husband.
"Don't worry."
Anthony took the bite. Seeing her preoccupied expression, he gently ruffled her hair to comfort her. "Emily is just waiting for Kenneth to pop the question. There's no way he'll fail."
He knew his sister better than anyone.
If their mother hadn't constantly drilled into her that girls needed to play hard to get, Emily probably would have been the one proposing in front of the whole world.
"It's not about that."
Charlotte took a sip of her milk tea, chewing on the boba pearls as her expression grew serious. "My second brother has Stella, Kenneth has Emily, and even Andrew managed to get Shirley to be his girlfriend..."
"It seems like in the whole world, only Donald and Newell are still single."
"Mhm."
Anthony leaned down, his thumb gently wiping the corner of her mouth as he gave her his full attention. "It is pretty pitiful."
"My aunt and uncle were saying that Donald is getting older but still hasn't gotten married, let alone brought a girl home."
"I heard he got dumped years ago, though I don't know if it's true."
Charlotte thought for a moment before adding, "Newell is the same. He's always a lone wolf and barely interacts with women."
The two men were close in age and their personalities were far too similar.
