The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1987

[Someone asked her to pass a love letter to Roger once. She agreed to their face, but secretly snitched. She's incredibly manipulative.]

[She looks so fragile and innocent, who knew she was actually like this? I guess miserable people always have a hateful side to them.]

[Does she not know her own place? Stop polluting the Gates family's name!]

[...]

The tide of public opinion quickly shifted from pity to relentless mockery and vicious abuse.

It was glaringly obvious someone had hired trolls to fan the flames. The most common insults branded her a gold digger, an ungrateful wretch, and a stain on the Gates family.

"This..." Samantha was shell-shocked by the horrifying reality of Stella's past, tears streaming freely down her face. Her heart shattered for the girl. "These inhuman bastards, what kind of garbage are they spouting?"

"I've already got people scrubbing it," Roger said grimly. "But it's spreading too fast. We need time."

Especially the photos of Stella—they had gone viral, and there was no telling how many times they had been saved and reposted.

"..."

Roger listened to them speak, scrolling silently through the articles. His eyes slowly turned bloodshot.

The further down he read, the heavier his breathing became.

Finally, he hurled the phone at the marble floor with terrifying force. It shattered into pieces.

The deafening sound stunned Samantha and Kenneth into absolute silence. They stared at him, their faces pale.

In all their years, they had never seen him explode with such sheer, unadulterated rage.

"Give me the car keys."

Roger took two ragged breaths, forcing himself to remain rational. He barked the order as he pulled out his own phone and dialed Stella's number.

No answer.

He dialed again.

The number you have reached is powered off.

"With the news blowing up like this, Stella probably saw it." Samantha snapped back to reality, panic setting in. "Roger, go find her!"

"Ma'am, the keys."
