The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1920

"Stella went to walk a student home."

On the other end of the line, Clay sounded absolutely frantic. "Dammit, I told her not to go out, I specifically told her..."

"It's going to be a torrential downpour tonight."

She had never lived here before; she definitely didn't know how to handle these conditions.

As he spoke.

The sky went completely pitch-black, and fat drops of rain began to pelt the ground.

"Which direction?" Roger glanced outside, gripping the steering wheel tight, his voice dangerously low.

"Southwest of the clinic..." Clay tried desperately to calm himself down. "At this hour, Stella is already in the mountains.

Roger, your car won't make it up there. Listen, just hold on, I'll organize the villagers..."

Before Clay could finish, the call was disconnected.

At that moment.

A deafening crack of thunder shook the sky, lightning flashed, and the torrential downpour unleashed its full fury.

"Oh God, this is bad."

Clay paced frantically, cold sweat beading on his forehead as his trembling hands dialed the village officials.

Both Roger and Stella were the village's saviors.

If anything happened to them, what were they going to do?

After hanging up.

Roger immediately called Charlotte.

"I need Stella's exact GPS coordinates." Roger slammed his foot on the gas. The rain hammered violently against the windshield, matching the chilling urgency in his voice. "Lottie, as fast as you can."

Answering the phone, Charlotte immediately booted up her laptop.

Her fingers flew across the keyboard to trace the signal as she asked, "What happened?"

"There's a massive storm in the village. Stella walked a student home, and the route is at high risk for mudslides and landslides."

Hearing that, Charlotte's fingers violently faltered over the keys.

But she quickly reigned in her panic, holding her breath. "Give me two minutes," she said grimly.

"Hurry."

Roger kept his foot buried on the accelerator. The roaring engine and the deafening claps of thunder echoed furiously around him.

A moment later, Roger's phone system was overridden.

Within seconds.

He would die right there beside her.

"Keep this from the family for now. I don't want them worrying.

With those final words, Roger ended the call and sprinted straight into the raging storm, following the GPS coordinates.

After the line went dead.

Charlotte sat frozen on the edge of her bed, her head bowed as her knuckles turned white around her phone.

"Don't worry, Roger will protect her."

Anthony walked over, gently prying the phone from her grip. He pressed a comforting kiss to her cheek, his voice a soothing murmur.

Charlotte looked up, her eyes rimmed with red, looking entirely heartbroken and helpless.

Stella and Roger both meant the world to her.

She cared about them deeply.

"Come here, let me hold you."

Not knowing what else to say, Anthony opened his arms and pulled her into a tight embrace. "Don't be scared," he whispered. "They're going to be okay."

They absolutely

Had to be.
