For a while?
What about the long term?
That didn't sound like a man who was ready to let go.
"Got it," Charlotte murmured. She ended the call and looked up at Anthony. "I'm heading to Kingswood University."
"I'll drive you."
Anthony stood up, had Helen fetch their coats, and guided Charlotte out with an arm around her waist.
Half an hour later.
Kingswood University.
"I'll be right out front. Call me if you need anything." Anthony unbuckled her seatbelt and pressed a soft kiss to her cheek. "Be careful," he urged gently.
"I will."
After saying goodbye, Charlotte headed straight for Stella's dorm.
The room was quiet.
When Charlotte walked in, she found Stella in her pajamas, intently typing an essay. She looked completely composed, as if nothing had happened at all.
Seeing her walk in, Charlotte narrowed her eyes studying her.
Could it be...
That she really had zero interest in Roger whatsoever?!
"Charlotte, what are you doing here?"
Opening the door, Stella's previously lifeless expression broke into a bright smile. "Aren't you supposed to be resting at home?"
"Yeah."
Charlotte rubbed her nose, stepping inside and casually dropping into a chair, keeping her gaze fixed on her friend. "Are you alright?"
"About what?" Stella's smile faltered for a fraction of a second before understanding dawned. "You mean with Roger?"
"Yeah."
"I already made things clear to him." Stella sat obediently across from her, her tone light. "I might have been a bit harsh. I just hope he doesn't take it too personally."
"You really don't like him?"
