The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1878

"In my heart, Asclepius is the only one worthy of that position. I mistakenly believed she had passed away, so I desperately wanted to protect her legacy and reputation. Asclepius, every word I'm saying is the absolute truth."

Queenie let go of her former arrogance, leaving nothing but raw sincerity. "I am so sorry for all the trouble I've caused you."

After listening to her confession, Charlotte stayed silent for a long moment before finally cracking a faint smile. "If that's the case, aren't you terrified that the conglomerate will withhold your antidote?"

"I've thought about it." Queenie offered a bitter smile, her voice dropping to a whisper. "You once said that a doctor must have a conscience. Those without compassion are unworthy of practicing medicine. I've always kept those words close to my heart. So, even if it ends up costing me my life, I refuse to gamble with Eldoria or the lives of innocent patients."

Charlotte shifted her posture, her gaze darkening thoughtfully. "So you risked your life and snuck out of the hospital to track me down... just to tell me this?"

"Yes." Queenie nodded. Her face was deathly pale, and her voice barely a whisper. "I just didn't want you to misunderstand my intentions."

After all, Asclepius was her ultimate idol. She truly admired her more than anyone else in the world.

"I've said everything I needed to say." Queenie stood up and looked at Charlotte with a soft expression. "Asclepius, congratulations on becoming the President of the International Medical Association."

With Charlotte at the helm, the future of global medicine was undeniably bright.

"I won't take up any more of your time. I'll be going now." Giving a deep, respectful bow, Queenie turned on her heel to leave.

"Hold on!" Charlotte's sharp voice stopped her in her tracks. "Your condition has merely been temporarily suppressed. Without an antidote during your next flare-up, you'll still die."

The two of them took a seat in the spacious living room. Charlotte opened her laptop and spun it around so the screen faced Queenie. It displayed her latest, half-finished research paper. The most complex and challenging theories were yet to be fleshed out.

"Read through this. I'll be asking you questions in ten minutes."

"Wait, what?" Queenie jumped slightly before hurriedly dropping her gaze to study the document with intense concentration. Charlotte sat beside her, leisurely snacking on some fresh fruit.

As she read, Queenie couldn't help but steal covert glances at Charlotte. Every time she looked, she had to suppress a tiny, giddy smile. Asclepius was so different from what she had imagined. She was breathtakingly beautiful, radiant, and commanded an effortless elegance...

Meanwhile, Anthony had just finished up his work. The moment he reached the landing of the staircase, his senses instantly detected an intruder. He looked down and caught Queenie staring at his wife, a goofy, love-struck smile plastered across her face. Anthony's brow furrowed, his expression instantly darkening into a formidable scowl.
