Nine: [Look into this person's information. I'll handle the rest myself.]
Jackson, Adonis: [Yes, Charlotte.]
After giving her orders.
Charlotte exited the chat. She spun her phone in her hand, remaining silent for a few seconds before opening Roger's social media and typing away.
Charlotte: [Have you lost your mind?]
Roger replied almost instantly: [You don't approve?]
Charlotte: [Stella isn't like the girls you're used to. Unless you're fully prepared, don't mess with her.]
On the surface, Stella appeared quiet and gentle to everyone, but she had been through far too much. She had long erected high walls deep within her heart, trapping herself securely inside.
Let alone outsiders, even Charlotte couldn't claim to have completely walked into her heart.
Especially after what happened at Lamplighter Village. To Stella, it was a lifelong trauma she could never forget.
Just because she didn't mention it didn't mean she didn't remember.
Roger: [I can tell she's definitely different.]
Reading the implication in his words, Charlotte frowned, her expression turning serious as she replied: [I just want to warn you. You're probably going to hit a brick wall.]
Roger: [You said 'probably.' And even so, what does it matter if I crash into a wall once?]
Charlotte: [Fine. Go for it.]
Message sent successfully. Charlotte ended the conversation and tossed her phone aside.
Right at that moment, the bedroom door opened.
Anthony appeared in the doorway wearing a crisp white shirt, carrying a cup of milk tea and some freshly roasted chestnuts.
"What's wrong?"
Seeing her scrunched-up face and foul mood, Anthony quickly walked over. He sat beside her, leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead, and asked softly, "Are the babies giving you a hard time?"
"Hmm?"
Charlotte lowered her eyes, instinctively glancing at her stomach, then shook her head. "Your babies are very well-behaved today."
As she spoke, her gaze landed on his hands, her eyes lighting up.
Anthony stood up and grabbed the hairdryer to dry her hair.
"Yeah."
Charlotte picked up a peeled chestnut, popped it into her mouth, and leaned against Anthony's chest like a lazy kitten. "I can tell they're both incredibly stubborn."
One would refuse to agree, and the other would refuse to let go.
"Then do you think..." Anthony ran his fingers through her hair, lightly resting his chin on her shoulder, his voice husky. "Does Stella have feelings for Roger?"
"It's better if she doesn't. I'm afraid she might."
Charlotte fed Anthony another chestnut, speaking lazily.
That was just how Stella was.
The more she cared about someone, the less she wanted to hurt them.
So...
She actually hoped Stella didn't like Roger. That way, during his pursuit, he could slowly help her break down her walls.
