The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1762

Allanson held his ground, coolly waving off his bodyguards. His voice stayed steady as he said, “I’m not here to fight with you today. I came to attend my granddaughter’s wedding.”

Come to the wedding?

Robert almost laughed, though his anger burned hot. This was the same man who nearly got Lottie killed, and now he had the nerve to call himself her grandfather?

“We don’t need you at Lottie’s wedding,” Robert said. His eyes were sharp, his voice icy cold. “Allanson, you have nothing to do with our family anymore. If you don’t walk away now, don’t blame me for what happens next…”

“Grandpa!”

Charlotte’s voice rang out, crisp and low, cutting him off.

“Lottie…” Robert’s face softened as soon as he saw her. He reached out and squeezed her hand. “Don’t worry, I’m here today. I won’t let him get close to you.”

“It’s alright, Grandpa.” Charlotte patted his hand with a gentle smile. “Go rest for a while. I’ll take care of this.”

“Lottie…”

Charlotte’s voice suddenly carried a warning edge. “Are you ignoring me now?”

Robert dropped his gaze, a bit awkward, and muttered quietly, “I’ll be right over there. If you need anything, let me know.”

“I know, Grandpa.” Charlotte nodded. She asked the butler to help Robert sit down nearby, then turned and stepped up to face Allanson.

“Charlotte, it’s been a long time,” Allanson said. The harshness in his eyes faded a little, and the corners of his mouth lifted into a faint smile. “I’m glad I get to see you again.”

This goodbye felt final, like it might be the last time they’d ever see each other.

“Let’s go,” he told his driver, settling into the car. As they pulled away, he let his gaze linger on the roses outside the house. “To the cemetery,” he said quietly.

“Yes, sir.”

The line of cars slowly rolled out of the Gates estate, leaving behind several huge boxes of gifts.

Franco hurried out, and when he saw the boxes, his jaw dropped in shock. “All these things… These were Allanson’s most treasured possessions. He left them all for Lottie?”

Their value was beyond words.
