The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1720

“Roger, you…”

The maid wanted to ask if he needed anything brought in from the car, but Roger was moving so quickly she couldn’t catch up. She just stood there, watching him disappear down the hallway, completely confused.

Weird.

Usually, whenever Samantha tried to introduce him to a girl, he’d dodge her calls or avoid coming home altogether. But today, not only did he answer his phone, he even rushed home early. Maybe things would work out this time.

The living room bubbled with laughter. Everyone was deep in conversation when footsteps suddenly echoed from the entryway. Heads turned at the sound, and there was Roger—hair a little rumpled, breath slightly uneven. He had definitely hurried back.

Roger glanced around, his dark eyes scanning the room, obviously looking for someone.

He didn’t see her.

“Roger, over here.”

Samantha brightened as soon as she saw him, waving him over and pointing at the open seat next to Shirley. “Sit by Shirley.”

The second she said it, understanding washed over the whole room. So that was Samantha’s plan, trying to set them up. Clearly, she hadn’t realized that Shirley was already taken.

Charlotte leaned back, shooting Andrew a look, her eyebrows raised with just a hint of teasing. Andrew caught the signal right away, for once thinking fast. He stood up in a flash and pulled Shirley over, settling her firmly by his side, almost as if making a statement.

“Okay,” Shirley replied softly, still looking a little lost but immediately relaxing next to Andrew, a sweet smile blooming on her face.

Samantha just stared, stunned, needing a few seconds to catch up before glancing at Charlotte. “Wait, so… they’re…”

After dinner, Charlotte spent an hour sorting through her dowry.

“If I really take all this, are my three brothers going to have anything left for their own weddings?” She tossed the list aside, sprawling on the couch, her voice lazy. “It’s too much. I’ll just take half.”

There was just way too much—money, stocks, all sorts of random things. She’d have to organize it later. What a pain.

But when Lottie spoke up, no one in the room dared argue. They just quietly accepted it.

“That’s final.” Charlotte stood, stretching and stifling a yawn. She fixed the crowd with a stern look. “Add one more thing behind my back and I’m not getting married at all.”

Anthony looked up instantly, his face going pale.
