The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1493

“I already ate.” Charlotte raised her eyebrows just a bit when she heard Kenneth, sounding like she barely cared.

“Oh.” Kenneth swallowed hard. Even over the phone, he still felt nervous talking to her.

“So… how’s the morning sickness? Is it really bad?” He hesitated, not brave enough to ask her straight out. Instead, he tried to soften her up. “You’re in a good mood these days, right?”

“Mhm. If you want to go, go.” Charlotte was quickly losing patience hearing Kenneth stumble through a bunch of pointless questions. She finally got to the point. “Just remember to take your medicine on time and be careful. Don’t bang yourself up.”

Even though he was recovering, any little slip could make things a lot worse. Especially since Kenneth was a musician. If anything happened to his hands, it could ruin everything for him. That’s why Emily had texted Charlotte before leaving the country, asking her to convince Kenneth to actually rest and get better.

After getting the okay from Lottie, Kenneth let out a low laugh. He smiled. “Just wait. I’ll bring a sister-in-law home for you.”

...

That night, Kenneth hopped on a plane to Brenland. He kept it a secret from Emily, wanting to surprise her.

Eighteen hours later, the plane touched down at Brenland Airport.

“The film set for ‘Storm’ is still a two hour drive from the city,” Knox said, rolling Kenneth’s suitcase behind him. He glanced at Kenneth’s hand, a worried look on his face. “It’s out in the middle of nowhere. Roads are rough. This might be tough for you.”

“I’m fine,” Kenneth replied, his steps picking up speed in his black coat. “Is the car ready?”

He didn’t know why, but he felt desperate to see her. Some weird sense told him if he missed this chance, he might never get another.

“It’s ready,” Knox said. He knew nothing would change Kenneth’s mind. Sweet love really did make people lose all sense.

...

Back in a sleepy border town in Brenland, Emily was finishing up her shoot. She rubbed her aching neck, following Pam back toward the dressing room.

Emily led Jarrod to the little balcony next door. Being halfway up the hill, it gave them a gorgeous view of the town all lit up at night.

“So… Emily, do you know what I want to say?” Jarrod asked, eyeing her nervously, her calm smile making him even more anxious.

“Why don’t you tell me?” Emily’s smile was warm. “Maybe I already know.”

“Emily, are you… the administrator of Kenneth's global fan club?” Jarrod finally asked, careful and a little worried she’d be mad about him looking into her.

She didn’t even try to deny it.

“Yes,” Emily said. She figured if he’d already found that much, he probably knew most of the other details too.

So she just admitted it. He honestly thought she’d try to hide it.
