The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1463

“It’s really a fake?”

“Honestly, I just can’t see Emily pulling something like this. Maybe… there’s been some sort of mix-up?”

“A mix-up?” The reporter who first broke the “fake” story just snorted. “Jeva’s head designer came out and said point blank that they never loaned that dress to Emily. So what kind of mix-up could there be?”

“Emily probably thought she was being smart, figuring that, since nobody had seen the gown before, no one would find out. She clearly didn’t expect Sabina to get in touch with someone from Jeva.”

At that, most of the reporters and fans went silent, lost in thought. If the top designer from Jeva himself had spoken out, how could there possibly be a mistake? He’d know better than anyone if the dress was real.

Emily could hear the low buzz of everyone’s voices swirling around her. Her face had gone pale, and she couldn’t stop her brows from jutting together. The fact that Jeva’s head designer was saying he never lent the dress—what did that mean? How had Charlotte gotten it, then? She was sure Charlotte wouldn’t give her a fake dress. So what was really going on?

“This is…”

Sabina scrolled through the design director’s social post, and for a moment, satisfaction flashed in her eyes. She quickly replaced it with an expression of shock and confusion, raising her voice so everyone could hear. “Emily, is what Jeva’s design director said true? Is the gown you’re wearing actually fake?”

She paused, then went on, “If there’s been some misunderstanding, you should explain it to everyone.”

“Emily, we want an explanation!”

“Yes, explain it to us. Jeva’s head designer would never just say something like this unless it was true. Is this a misunderstanding, or…”

“In ten minutes, I’ll show you all exactly where the dress came from.” Kenneth cut her off softly, then turned to the reporters with a look that could freeze water.

Ten minutes? The head designer at Jeva had already said it was a fake. What could Kenneth possibly do to turn things around in just ten minutes?

And there was something else. Kenneth had not only helped Emily get the gown, he’d walked the red carpet with her—and now he was standing up for her in front of everyone. Their relationship didn’t feel like ‘just colleagues’ at all.

“Kenneth, look, I get that you and Emily are friends, but…” Sabina stepped forward, her tone dripping with fake concern. “Is it possible someone on your team messed up, and Emily had no idea? If it really was just a mistake, I’m sure fans would understand if she admitted it on camera.” She was so sure the dress was a fake.

“I said I’d give you an answer in ten minutes.” Kenneth leveled his coldest glare at Sabina, shoving his hands in his pockets as a slow, mocking smile spread across his face. “Sabina, are you getting old, or is your hearing already going?”
