The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1430

“Jay…”

Emily lifted herself up on her toes, her hands gently framing the actor’s face. Her voice was soft but full of conviction. “My country needs me. My people need me. If the nation falls, what will become of everyone? My own feelings can’t come before my duty.”

Her delivery was flawless, her emotions clear and raw, drawing everyone’s attention and holding them spellbound.

“Jay…” Emily’s voice wavered with emotion as she leaned in, her lips nearly brushing the actor’s. “In this life, I belong to the world. But in the next, I’ll be yours.”

With her words hanging in the air, she moved in as if for a kiss, so authentic that the clever camera angle sold the illusion perfectly.

“Emily really is Apex Mediaworks’ top star. That was amazing.”

“Seriously, she’s captivating.”

“I totally get why J wanted her as the lead. She was born for this role.”

In the midst of all the praise, a tense moment broke through the warmth in the room.

The agent, still wiped out by the emotional scene, noticed something strange and glanced down.

“Your hand…”

He couldn’t hide his shock when he saw the phone in Kenneth’s grip, the screen shattered. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” Kenneth let go, tossing the broken phone at his agent with a cool, almost careless smile. “Guess it wasn’t very sturdy.”

The agent was lost for words.

It was just a fake kiss for the scene—why was Kenneth taking it so hard?

“You really need some thick skin in this line of work,” the agent muttered, shaking his head. “No wonder they broke up.”

Broke up?

Kenneth’s head snapped around, his eyes sharp and locked on the agent. His voice came out quick and low. “Who broke up?”

“Emily,” the agent said honestly. “I had a few drinks with Pam yesterday. She had one too many and let it slip. Said Emily just went through a breakup. She’s not doing great.”

So it wasn’t a reconciliation. It was a breakup?

Hearing that, Kenneth felt the weight in his chest lift, like a cloud suddenly breaking apart.

As soon as Emily spotted Kenneth, her face changed in surprise.

Was he… joining Storm?

“Kenneth!”

The director jumped up, grinning in delight. “When I saw your name on the sign-up list, I thought it must be a mistake. I can’t believe it’s really you.”

Kenneth had never officially acted before, but the director had watched his music videos—Kenneth both starred in and directed them himself.

He had the height, the looks, the charisma for the camera.

He’d be more than fine in the acting world.

Honestly, Kenneth seemed like the perfect fit for the lead.

“Well, since you’re here, let’s just follow the plan,” the director said with a pleased smile. “Emily, work with Kenneth on the lap scene.”

Emily was at a loss for words.
