The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1337

The door exploded open with a crash, swinging wildly before it finally gave up and collapsed to the floor in a broken heap.

Jackson and Adonis both sucked in a sharp breath. Charlotte was mad, and that never ended well.

“You…” Anthony’s brow furrowed as he hurried over, pulling Charlotte into his arms. He couldn’t even bring himself to scold her. “What pregnant woman kicks down doors like that?”

It was just a door, after all. Honestly, if she wanted to, she could probably tear down the whole mansion in ten minutes flat.

“I forgot,” Charlotte mumbled, pressing her lips together while she took the criticism without complaint. She gently patted her belly, looking serious. “See? All good. Baby’s fine. They’re used to it.”

Anthony was left speechless, his face turning grim. Honestly, this kind of prenatal influence was a little terrifying. If their kid turned out to be a handful, at least half the blame would be on Charlotte.

“Charlotte…” Damaris stared at the ruined door for a second, clearly stunned, but she snapped out of it fast.

“That’s right, it’s me.” Charlotte pulled off her hat, her beautiful face as cool and distant as ever. Her eyes, cold and sharp, landed on Damaris.

“You actually dare to show up here!” Damaris’s anger went through the roof. She snatched up another cup and hurled it at Charlotte. “This is the Churchill Estate, not the Hawk family! Who do you think you are, meddling in Churchill family business? Get out! Now!”

“Careful!”

The cup flew through the air, but Anthony and Newell both moved at the same time. Newell caught the cup midair, while Anthony pulled Charlotte close, shielding her.

Not even a scratch on Charlotte.

“Don’t get worked up,” Newell said quietly, a grateful smile tugging at his mouth. He knew Charlotte was here for him and tried to calm her down.

At the sound of his voice, Charlotte finally looked away from Damaris and turned to him.

Newell stood there in a thin shirt, looking smaller than ever. He’d lost weight from being sick, his usually handsome face drawn and tired. The smile he gave her looked like it hurt.

Charlotte had always thought Damaris wasn’t fit to be a mother. Now she realized, Damaris barely counted as human.

Some people could get jealous over anything, even their own child. She’d only had a son to please her husband. And after he died, she blamed everything on that same child.
