At that moment, a string of black sports cars screeched to a stop at the airport entrance. Doors flew open and a swarm of bodyguards poured out, looking ready for anything. Then Anthony showed up with his arm around Charlotte, and the second they appeared, you could feel the mood shift. The air turned heavy and tense, and everyone seemed to shrink back a little.
Seeing Anthony and Charlotte together, so confident and imposing, Damaris curled her fingers tight, a hint of worry flashing in her usually calm eyes. She had been so careful, keeping her trip to the airport a secret. How could Charlotte possibly know? And Newell, who was always so careful and calculating, had been caught without any trouble. Did that mean someone inside the Churchill family was leaking information?
Damaris had planned to grab the bracelet before Charlotte found out. Now, with so many eyes on them, she could tell things were about to get complicated.
“Don’t come any closer!” Olivia’s voice shook as she spotted Charlotte. She gripped the bracelet so hard her knuckles turned white and backed up a couple of steps. “Take one more step and I’ll smash it!”
She could break the bracelet in an instant, and the special vial inside would be ruined. That vial wasn’t just some ordinary trinket. Her life depended on it.
“Smash it?” Charlotte slowed down, her posture relaxed and almost lazy as she looked up. “You really think that scares me?”
Not scared? Did she not care about her own life? Olivia met Charlotte’s cold, dark eyes and felt a chill crawl up her spine.
“If you keep the bracelet safe, maybe you get to live.” Charlotte’s voice was icy and calm, her gaze sharp. “But if it’s destroyed, you’re going down too.”
Olivia’s heart nearly jumped out of her chest. Sweat prickled at her skin and she didn’t doubt for a second that Charlotte meant every word.
