Two letters were etched into the pendant: ML.
Charlotte looked at him, puzzled.
“Take a guess. What do you think the letters mean?” Anthony asked softly. He wrapped his arm around her, gently rubbing her tired hand.
ML.
Charlotte thought it over. It couldn’t be something as simple as ‘my love.’ She paused, then a slow smile curved her lips and her eyes sparkled. “My life?”
Anthony gave a low, warm laugh, his voice vibrating right against her ear. “My life.”
Lottie, you’re my life.
Charlotte raised an eyebrow. “That’s a lot of pressure, you know.” She watched him for a moment, then leaned in and kissed him softly. “For you, I guess I’d better take good care of myself.”
“That’s what I’m hoping for.” Anthony lifted her hand, kissed her knuckles, and his gaze grew deeper as he lowered his head toward her…
“Lottie.”
Right before their lips could meet, the door swung open. Franco burst in, grinning from ear to ear.
He stopped dead when he saw them, his smile freezing in place. For a second, he just stood there, then managed to grind out through clenched teeth, “You two…”
Charlotte didn’t say a word.
Neither did Anthony.
Franco let out a heavy sigh, frustration and resignation all over his face. “Next time, remember to lock the door!”
