The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1066

Marcia just stared, lost for words.

Was Asclepius really that desperate for money? She’d never seen anyone care about cash so much.

In the lab, Charlotte moved with practiced ease. Wearing a white coat and goggles, she adjusted the microscope, her long fingers steady and sure.

“Red blood cell count, seventy. White blood cell count, fifteen…” she murmured.

Marcia hesitated, then scrambled for her pen and started taking notes. She’d spent the whole night trying to figure this out and hadn’t gotten anywhere. Yet Asclepius had it all in under half a minute.

“The cell count’s too low. Without the antidote, there’s no way to know if these can keep the host functioning,” Charlotte said, stepping back from the microscope. She peeled off her gloves and spoke quietly, “How long are you all planning to hang on to that antidote?”

Marcia frowned, caught off guard. “How do you know about the antidote?”

Charlotte gave her a look. “I know more than you think. Want answers? Pay up.”

Marcia was left gaping, not sure what to say.

Charlotte took in the confusion on Marcia’s face and figured she wasn’t the one calling the shots about the antidote. She didn’t bother wasting more words.

“Send my overtime to my account,” Charlotte said, slipping out of her coat and gloves. Without another word, she turned and left the lab.

She barely made it through the door before nearly bumping into three people waiting outside.

On either side stood G2 and Aloys. Between them was a tall man who looked to be around sixty, dressed in a black jacket. Time had left its mark on his face, but you could still sense the authority and power he carried.
