“I know,” Marcia said, nodding as she glanced at the video feed. She saw Asclepius lounging around, completely unfazed, and a hint of disdain flickered across her face. “No matter how amazing he thinks he is, he’s still just a doctor.”
Ever since that mysterious girl broke into their database, they’d spent a small fortune upgrading their security. This time, the system was built by the legendary hacker known as N. Her work was famous for being unbeatable. No one in the world could get through it, except for N herself. Anyone else even trying was just dreaming.
The convoy pulled to a stop.
Charlotte stepped out of the car and headed inside. When she passed through the institute’s security check, a guard noticed the thin hair tie on her wrist. He frowned and reached out to take it off, but before he could, Charlotte grabbed his wrist. In the next second, the guard let out a sharp cry and collapsed on the floor.
“Don’t touch my stuff,” Charlotte said, brushing off her hands. She looked up, her expression cold, her eyes sharp. “Aloys, keep your people in line.”
Aloys frowned and shot Marcia a look.
Marcia walked over, eyeing the hair tie. Seriously? Just a hair tie?
“Asclepius, do you have a girlfriend?” she asked.
“Boyfriend,” Charlotte replied, not missing a beat.
Boyfriend? For a second, Marcia almost lost her cool. She stared at Asclepius, suddenly noticing how his movements had a certain delicate touch. So that’s it... He’s gay.
“No problem,” Marcia said, waving the guards away. She turned to Charlotte with a polite nod. “Asclepius, this way.”
They walked into the main hall of the institute.
