The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1015

Coffee shot out of Kenneth’s mouth and nose all at once.

He grabbed a handful of napkins, frantically wiping his face. His eyes were huge as he stared at Charlotte. “What did you just say?”

Did he hear her right? Lottie said her mom was alive. Her mom was Nora. Nora had been gone for almost twenty years. How could she possibly be alive?

Was Lottie just rambling nonsense? Or... no, that couldn’t be.

Kenneth’s expression changed, his usual goofy grin disappearing. He pulled out a chair, sat down across from Charlotte, and studied her seriously.

Just a couple days ago, he’d called Anthony to ask Lottie to dinner. Anthony told him she’d caught a cold—though really, she’d gone off on some wild adventure at the Isle of Veil—and couldn’t come out. Maybe she’d gotten such a bad fever it fried her brain.

“Lottie, are you feeling okay?” Kenneth frowned and leaned in, reaching out like he was about to check her forehead.

Charlotte’s brow twitched. She dodged his hand, her pretty face showing her annoyance. “I’m totally fine, alright? My mom is actually alive. And I found my dad, too.”

Kenneth felt like his brain just short-circuited.

“You don’t sound like yourself right now,” he blurted out, frowning even more. He stood up, ready to go hunt down Anthony for answers, but before he could take a step, the door swung open.

Anthony walked in, holding a mug of warm milk.

“Anthony,” Kenneth rushed over immediately, lowering his voice and asking, “Is Lottie running a fever or something? Is she completely out of it?”

Anthony just raised an eyebrow. “Hm?”

“She’s saying Nora is alive. And, get this, she says she has a dad now too.” Kenneth shot a look at Charlotte, who was just sitting there eating strawberries. He felt like he was about to lose it. “This is next-level delusional.”

Anthony listened, then let out a laugh. “Lottie’s not making it up.”
