The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 322

Her words made it clear that she doubted me. What was the point of her superficial explanation?

I glanced at Abigail calmly and asked, "Abigail, have you really been working overtime these past few days?"

Hearing my question, a trace of displeasure flashed across her eyes. Her reaction was almost instinctive, revealing her disdain and annoyance at me. However, the look disappeared as quickly as it came.

I had to admit that Abigail was always good at hiding her emotions.

The reason she didn't respond to my question was because, in her mind, she was analyzing whether the response she gave me would benefit her in any way.

I chuckled lightly, then said in a steady tone, "You don't have to answer me. You can lie to me if you want, but can you truly deceive yourself?"

My words made her look up abruptly, staring at me in disbelief.

She instinctively looked at me and asked in shock, "Did you… see something?"

Her unease and panic were all too apparent, and I caught every bit of it.

I couldn't help but find it amusing. Her unintentional confession was truly appalling.

So, I shook my head lightly and said calmly and casually, "I didn't see anything."

Hearing that, she visibly let out a sigh of relief.

However, she never seemed to have thought about that matter seriously.

She furrowed her brows as she looked at me, asking helplessly, "Samuel, as my husband, you should be able to understand where I come from, right? After all, you were the one who injured Joshua. Isn't it only right for me to check on him?"

What a joke. To think she would try to guilt-trip me with this sorry excuse.

I looked at her calmly and said, "Yeah, you're right. You should go see him. After all, your legs are your own. No matter how much I try to persuade you, what difference does it make? Even if I asked you not to go, would you listen to me?

"Abigail, stop deceiving yourself. The person you care about the most has always been Joshua, not me. That's why you tell me excuses like this while secretly meeting him. You're afraid I'll find out that you're staying by my side just to torment me, aren't you?"

I decided to voice out all the thoughts and feelings inside me at that moment. I laid everything bare in front of her so that she could see it clearly for herself.
