The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 294

I was grateful I wasn't so stubborn back then. I didn't give up on having Abigail help me find a doctor just because of everything that had happened between us.

At that time, I had already lost one sister. I couldn't bear to lose a second one!

I had to ensure that Lana could live a happy, healthy life.

As the time for Abigail's arrival at the hospital drew near, an inexplicable sense of unease began to stir within me. I didn't know where this feeling came from, but it gnawed at me.

This unspoken, unclear sensation left me restless and on edge. It was as if something terrible was about to happen.

Just as I was fidgeting in my seat, I suddenly heard the blaring of a car horn from outside.

I quickly moved to the window and took a look. Sure enough, I saw Abigail stepping out of the car. She seemed to sense my gaze on her, and when she looked up, our eyes met.

For a fleeting moment, it felt as if time itself had frozen. The world around us disappeared, and it felt like only Abigail and I existed in that instant.

I felt a hint of nervousness. Just as I was about to go down and meet her, I noticed someone else step out of the car. It was her assistant, Luke Adams.

Luke had always been openly hostile toward me. If I hadn't accidentally stumbled upon the day he confessed his feelings to Abigail, I might never have understood the root of his hostility.

Every time we met, his expression was cold and unfriendly.

Abigail knew all about this. What I didn't understand was why, knowing his attitude toward me, she would still bring him along.

I didn't want to assume the worst about her. So, I swallowed my dissatisfaction and made my way toward her. I smiled and greeted her softly, "You're back."

I had seen with my own eyes how differently Luke treated Abigail compared to me. Even if Abigail wanted to fool me, I wasn't so naive that I couldn't see through it.

"Let's go see Lana," I said.

I flashed a small smile at Abigail before turning to lead her into Lana's hospital room.

Lana lit up with excitement the moment she saw Abigail. She threw herself into Abigail's arms and began to act all sappy.

Watching this scene filled my heart with a soft warmth. Deep down, I hoped for Abigail's change to be real.

The look on Abigail's face was one I had never seen before; it was genuinely gentle. It was then that I began to realize that, perhaps, she truly was trying to change from the bottom of her heart.
