I remained silent, my expression cold and distant, but Abigail wasn't about to let it go.
She grabbed my wrist abruptly. Her eyes were burned with dissatisfaction as she demanded, "Samuel, what's wrong with you? We haven't seen each other in three days. Why are you acting so cold and distant all of a sudden?"
Halfway through her sentence, she suddenly chuckled dryly.
She asked me coldly, "What, are you going to give me the silent treatment again and leave me without a word?"
Her words struck a nerve, hitting me deeply. I could no longer contain my anger and frustration. Turning sharply, I yanked my wrist free from her grip.
"Abigail, do you even hear yourself?" I snapped. "Do you have a conscience?"
She laughed dryly, her voice rising in indignation, "And what exactly makes you think I don't? I work my ass off all day. Then, when I come home, I have to deal with my husband's moods and try to keep him happy. And you're telling me I have no conscience?"
Abigail's loud accusations painted me as if I had done something terribly wrong to her. Her words were almost comical.
"Abigail, do you even see me as your husband?"
She froze, staring at me in confusion. "What are you trying to say?"
I smiled faintly as I replied, "If you really saw me as your husband, you wouldn't have gone behind my back and had an abortion without telling me."
Her expression changed instantly. The color drained from her face, and panic flickered in her eyes.
"Y-You already know?" she stammered.
I nodded, keeping my voice calm. "If I hadn't found the report in your pocket, how much longer were you planning to keep it from me?"
At that moment, my heart truly died.
From that day forward, Abigail dropped all pretenses and revealed her true intentions. She began a relentless campaign of torment.
…
I stared at Abigail blankly. My body trembled uncontrollably as memories of everything that had happened flooded my mind. My heart was overwhelmed with an endless tide of anger and pain.
But just then, Abigail gently tugged at my arm. I snapped back to reality and saw her staring at me in surprise.
"Why are you crying, Samuel?" she asked, her voice filled with confusion.
