The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 226

I sensed that something was off. There was a faint sense of unease creeping into my heart, as if something unknown had transpired.

Just then, Abigail suddenly cast a cold glance at Joshua.

Joshua's expression immediately grew tense. He clasped his hands tightly together, as if he had been caught doing something bad.

What happened next caught me completely off guard. Abigail turned her gaze to Joshua, then said in a dissatisfied tone, "Who gave you permission to come into my house?"

Joshua, who looked aggrieved just moments ago, froze the instant he heard her words. Filled with shock and disbelief, he asked, "Abigail, what… what do you mean?"

Perhaps he was expecting Abigail's first reaction to be of concern instead of questioning his presence here. For a moment, he couldn't quite accept what just happened.

His eyes reddened as he bit his lip gently, as though trying to muster the courage to say something, but ultimately failing to do so.

"I… I saw that you weren't responding to my messages, so I…"

Before Joshua could finish his sentence, Abigail ignored him and briskly walked up to me. She stared at me coldly, the frustrations clear on her face.

I had no idea what she meant by that, but I found it ridiculous and couldn't help wanting to get out of there as soon as possible.

I didn't want to be a part of whatever drama Abigail was having with Joshua.

So, I looked at Abigail calmly and forced a polite smile. I said softly, "Abigail, since you have guests here, I'll make myself scarce."

Then, I called out to Margaret, "Margaret, please serve our guests some drinks."

Moreover, when I referred to them as guests, neither of them offered any rebuttal. Wasn't that just acquiescing to my statement?

At that moment, I found Joshua utterly pathetic.

To be standing before someone he was utterly devoted to, only to have that person ignore his existence completely. It was a feeling I understood all too well. I could empathize with his current emotional state.

After giving her my answer, I returned to my room.

Before long, I could hear the sound of Joshua crying downstairs. The sound was filled with grievances.

I was taken aback. Didn't Abigail care about Joshua more than anything else? How could she bear to hear him cry in front of her without doing anything?
