Sophia glanced at me with a complicated expression. She hesitated before saying, "Samuel, I probably shouldn't be sticking my nose into this, but I still want to ask… why don't you just divorce Abigail?"
I fell silent because I didn't know how to respond to Sophia's question.
Was it that I didn't want to divorce Abigail?
No, it wasn't that. She had been clinging to me, trapping me by her side for her own amusement.
She had once told me that she would only be a widow, never divorced. Thus, this meant that no matter what, we would be tied together for life, tangled in a never-ending web.
I shook my head helplessly and let out a soft sigh. I didn't know when this would ever come to an end.
But Sophia suddenly became serious and said, "Samuel, I think Abigail has changed. The way she's treating you isn't just because of Blair. She's really jealous.
"Blair's appearance has created a huge sense of crisis for her, which is why she's acting so strangely. Samuel, I really think it's too much how she's torturing you! You have to divorce her!"
I forced a bitter smile. I didn't know how to respond to Sophia.
She had her thoughts written all over her face. She would speak her mind without a second thought and cared nothing for what others might think.
In the past, Abigail's hatred of me had left me feeling aggrieved and unable to express my dissatisfaction.
But now, I suddenly saw things more clearly. Because I knew that no matter how wronged I felt and how hurt I was, what was done was done.
I had made the wrong choice back then, which led to Abigail's deep resentment. She had been torturing me, humiliating me, because she felt that she had given her heart to the wrong person.
I hesitated before replying, "I… I'm on my way home. Why?"
I didn't know what Abigail wanted to talk to me about.
Her voice softened as she said, "Send me your location. I'll come pick you up."
I wasn't sure what she was up to. However, I knew if I disobeyed her, she wouldn't let me off easily. And so I obediently sent her my location and sat quietly on the curb steps, waiting for her.
To my disappointment, I waited for almost an hour, and Abigail never showed up. I was about to call her when I received her call.
"Take a cab to this place and wait for me there," she instructed. After hanging up, she sent me a new location.
