Tom looked a little displeased, but he didn't say anything.
I glanced at Abigail and saw her smiling faintly. There was calmness reflecting in her eyes.
At that moment, I knew she was deliberately provoking me. She wasn't going to let me leave. If I did, it would be seen as disrespecting her.
Thus, I had no choice but to sit back in my chair and say, "One."
Only then did Abigail release the grip she had on my hand.
The others around us quickly became immersed in the game.
I had no idea what Abigail was thinking. She was blatantly putting me on the spot. In the past, she would never have allowed Tom to treat me this brazenly.
But now, when faced with Tom's provocation, she didn't say a word. She even sat there calmly, enjoying the game.
My thoughts were all over the place, and I had no mind to continue playing. When it was my turn, I made a mistake, as expected.
According to the rules, if one called the wrong number, the person whose number was a multiple of it could ask a question.
If one failed to answer, they had to drink a number of cups of alcohol equal to the one place of the mistaken number. For example, if one called out 49, they would drink nine cups. If one called out 41, they would drink one cup.
My number was 26, and the person who got to ask the question was, coincidentally, Blair.
Few people knew about the connection between me and Blair. However, many were aware of the incident not long ago when Blair and Abigail got into a fight after a street race.
Some even speculated that the reason for their fight was me.
But how could I possibly admit to something like that? That would be asking for trouble, wouldn't it?
Blair's question was no different from throwing our relationship issues into the spotlight for everyone to see.
But why would Blair ask such a question? Could the rumors from back then actually be true?
Did she really get into a fight with Abigail over a man? And was that man Abigail's husband?
Almost everyone turned their eyes on me, and I could feel those unspoken questions piercing through their gazes.
They waited for my response. They were eager to see how I would handle the situation.
Even Abigail, who was sitting next to me, said nothing. She sat quietly while gazing at Blair. However, the coldness in her eyes said it all.
Before I could respond, Tom lost his temper. He frowned at his sister and sternly asked, "Blair, have you been drinking too much?"
