The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 156

When Joshua said that, I couldn't help but find it amusing. I glanced at him indifferently and raised an eyebrow. "Tell me, what exactly is this misunderstanding between us?"

"This…" Joshua was immediately stumped, unable to come up with a response.

What was he supposed to say? That the so-called misunderstanding was him being mistaken as my wife's affair partner?

Not long ago, Abigail had publicly pulled him into a press conference to clarify that there was absolutely nothing between them. The video was still circulating online.

And now Joshua was saying this to me? I really didn't know what was going on in his mind.

As expected, the moment I said those words, Joshua's expression darkened noticeably.

He glared at me. Frustration and anger flashed across his face, as if my words had hit a nerve. Yet, he seemed at a loss for how to counter me.

Even so, he didn't dare maintain a cold demeanor for too long. After all, just moments ago, he had been putting on an act for the crowd, pretending to be indifferent. It was as if he wasn't the one stirring up trouble, but rather the victim of my persistence.

Even so, Joshua quickly regained his composure.

With a smile that seemed to erase all tension, he nodded and chuckled lightly. "Samuel, no matter what misunderstandings there might have been between us, I hope we can move past them and get along from now on. What do you think?"

As he spoke, he extended his hand, clearly expecting a handshake.

I glanced at him calmly and said, "Joshua, there was never supposed to be any interaction between us. So, you've come to the wrong person for reconciliation."

I gave him another indifferent glance, then smiled lightly and waved my hand dismissively. "We're unlikely to cross paths again, so there's really no need for you to come all the way here and say such things, alright?"

The moment I picked up, her indignant voice burst through the line. "Samuel, where are you right now?"

"I'm on my way home. What's going on? Just tell me."

My tone was calm, but Sophia was fuming on the other end.

"That Joshua is absolutely outrageous!" she snapped. "I just ran into him at the company. I greeted him, but he completely ignored me! Not only that, he bossed me around like I was his staff, telling me to do this and that!"

Hearing this, my expression grew serious. "Next time he tries that, just refuse him outright. I've already made it clear to Mr. Jigman that you're my assistant, not anyone else's staff."

My words carried a firm resolve that left no room for argument.
