"The only reason you're sitting here today is because you know I'm the only one who can help you, isn't it?" Abigail's gaze was dark and cold as she continued, "Since you've come to me for help, shouldn't you at least show some proper humility and sincerity?"
I slowly lifted my head, looking at Abigail seriously. "I know your connections can help, Abigail. You can contact doctors overseas. Lana was Kay's best friend when she was alive. I hope you can show some compassion and forgive my past mistakes. Please help me find a neurosurgeon for Lana," I pleaded.
"Kay is already gone, and I can't let the same thing happen to Lana. As long as you agree to help me, I'll do whatever you ask," I added, my words heavy with sincerity.
Abigail seemed amused by my earnestness, and she let out a sharp, mocking laugh.
"Anything I ask? If I told you to die, would you?" she sneered.
Her words struck me to the core. I looked up at Abigail, my eyes filled with shock as I tried to figure out if she had meant what she had said or if she was just mocking me.
Her expression was one of pure disdain, her eyes glinting with scorn as she held my gaze.
I let out a bitter laugh, shaking my head. "If you want my life, then why wait until now? After all, I don't have much time left. In less than a year, you'll probably hear of my death."
Saying this felt pointless.
But Abigail didn't seem to grasp the meaning behind my words. She sneered, her disdainful gaze cutting through me like a knife.
Before I could finish, Abigail suddenly grabbed my wrist. Her eyes were blazing with fury and disgust as if I had said something unforgivable.
She flung my hand away with a violent force, her eyes burning with hatred as she said, "Fine. Since you've come to terms with it, we'll do it your way. From now on, you'll protect Joshua's reputation at all costs. You won't say a single bad word about him."
Her voice was cold. "If I find out that you've spoken against him, insulted him, or tried to hurt him behind my back, I'll make sure the overseas doctors stop treating Lana immediately."
Her words sent a shockwave through my heart. I looked at her with desperate hope, my voice trembling as I asked, "Does that mean you'll help?"
