The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 118

Abigail sneered as she followed me into the ward, her eyes filled with mockery.

"What are you going to do now?" I asked.

I furrowed my brows and stared at her, my gaze cautious and defensive. But the more guarded I became, the more triumphant her expression seemed.

She leaned against the doorframe, smiling as she watched me, and then said mockingly, "Samuel, do you really think I'm joking with you?"

"What do you mean by that?"

For some reason, when I saw the smug look in Abigail's eyes, a bad feeling settled in my stomach. I could sense that something unexpected was about to happen.

Sure enough, Abigail, still with that cold look, slowly spoke again. "Do you believe me when I say that with one word, I can make every doctor leave this place? Not one person will treat Lana."

My mind went blank, and I looked at Abigail in disbelief.

"What… did you just say?"

Abigail saw the shock on my face, and upon recognizing that I was rattled, she seemed to relish it.

She stepped closer, towering over me as she said in a low, controlled voice, "Lana's life is in my hands now. I think you understand the kind of attitude you need to have with me."

I gasped for air as panic flooded my chest.

Abigail always knew how to control me and how to twist the knife when I was vulnerable.

I took a deep breath, my voice shaky as I looked her in the eye and asked, "Abigail, can we talk about this calmly?"

At my words, Abigail let out a bitter laugh.

When Abigail heard this, her expression darkened visibly. She snapped, her voice laced with frustration, "Didn't I tell you last time? This situation isn't what you think it is!"

I could tell that she was angry, but I didn't want to escalate things further.

So, I nodded, letting her vent as she wished.

When I remained silent, Abigail took a deep breath, trying to suppress the anger boiling inside her.

She stared at me, her eyes piercing as she said, "Samuel, let me ask you something. Do you think that I, your legitimate wife, am less important than Kayla's hospital wardmates?"

At that moment, I didn't know how to answer her.

She wasn't wrong. If it weren't for her manipulative ways, none of this would have come to be. If I had recognized her true nature earlier, I would have left her long ago.
