The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 110

"If you want to hold onto her," I said coldly, "you'd be better off putting your energy into her instead of coming after me."

I fixed my gaze on Joshua, my tone calm but firm as I continued, "Joshua, I've never been your competition. You've made me into your imaginary enemy all on your own."

Joshua stared at me for a long time, his expression a mix of shock and calculation, as if he was trying to figure out if I was being honest.

But I'd overestimated his decency. Despite how plainly I'd laid things out, he still wasn't ready to relinquish his grudge.

He wore his usual wounded look, and his voice dripped with feigned sincerity as he said, "Samuel, I'm sorry. You've misunderstood me. Abigail and I are just business partners—nothing more. I'd never do something so shameful as to intrude on someone else's relationship. Please don't let this come between you and Abigail, okay?"

I almost laughed at the absurdity. Did he think a single sentence could erase everything that had already happened? Did he take me for a fool who couldn't see through the lies?

Joshua and Abigail really were a perfect match—one played the pitiful victim, while the other indulged his every whim without question.

I hadn't understood why Abigail insisted on keeping me around for a long time despite clearly not loving me. But now, as I watched Joshua's fake innocence and Joanna's public tirades, the pieces finally clicked.

Abigail didn't want me. She wanted the drama. She wanted me to be the person that everyone pointed fingers at, the one whose name evoked scorn and humiliation.

His words grew more heated as he spoke, his voice trembling with barely contained rage. It was as if he couldn't hold back the venom any longer.

"She hates you," he hissed, his eyes narrowing as he stepped closer.

Blair and George tried to block his path, but Joshua shoved them aside without hesitation. Standing inches from me, he leaned in, his face twisted with fury.

"Abigail's most hated person in the world is you," he spat, his voice filled with disdain.
