"What did you say?! What has happened to him? Is it bad?!"
Hector, who was hoping for Gustavo's death, was so excited to hear the remarks that he sounded a little excited when he spoke.
On the other end of the line, Ricardo asked skeptically, "Hector, do you not hear me clearly? Why do you sound so happy?"
Hector came to his senses and realized that he had gone a little overboard. He quickly composed himself, cleared his throat, and began, "Sorry, I'm still a little fuzzy from my sleep. I dreamed that my dad was released, and I was happy about it..."
Then, he hastily asked, "By the way, you said something about Dad. What's going on?"
"I sent you a video." Ricardo urged, "Watch it."
Hector immediately ended the call and clicked on the video. As he watched the video, he was so horrified about Gustavo being alive that he almost peed himself.
He had assumed that Moses had not found a perfect chance to kill Gustavo, but as it turned out, Moses had attempted the murder and failed.
Fortunately, Gustavo had asked him for help, which made Hector feel a little relieved. It meant that Gustavo had no idea that Hector was the one who wanted to kill him.
Moses had failed his task, but he hadn't betrayed Hector.
Hector was silent. He was thinking about what he should do next.
Should he attempt another assassination? Or should he feign ignorance about the news?
Jose pondered the options and replied, "Theoretically speaking, you're right, but have you ever considered whether the Rothschild family is willing to take the blame? Once they find out that you are behind this, they will not only expose you but also lobby the U.S. government to target you. At that time, your family will be upset, and the Americans will be hostile toward you. If they make a deal with Gustavo, they may find ways to have him replace you, and then you may be the one in jail."
Jose took a deep breath and continued, "Also, Gustavo asked you for help, and the whole world saw it. If he dies, even in an accident, it would be like telling the world that you can't even protect your own father."
"Fuck!" Hector's face twisted into a hateful grimace, and he whispered, "What do you think I should do?"
Jose thought for a while and answered, "I think the only way now is to protest to the Rothschilds. You must first act like a good son would do when your father is threatened with death, and then make a harsh statement that your entire family will take revenge immediately if anything happens to Gustavo. Anyway, the Rothschild family's reputation has been ruined, and most Americans think they are awful. This is the best time to kick them when they are down. They will take full responsibility!"
Jose continued, "Also, you don't have to worry about the Rothschilds finding out the truth. We only need to kill the messenger, and this will break the chain of evidence linking us to hiring Moses. It won't matter if they find a breakthrough from within the prison. Without evidence, even if they accuse you, we can simply say they're slandering you. We don't need to care about what others say. What truly matters is what people believe."
