When the two came down from Quiant Monastery, Charlie kept holding the agarwood bracelet in his hand. He really wanted to know what the other person intended by leaving this bracelet for him, but after thinking about it, he still couldn't figure it out.
For now, he simply decided to go along with what Vera said. The twenty-eight beads on this bracelet represented his current age. The other person had threaded twenty-eight beads into a bracelet, knowing full well that Vera would notice something unusual and return to Quiant Monastery to investigate. Yet, they had deliberately left this bracelet for him. What message were they trying to convey to him?
While feeling puzzled, the two descended the mountain and started climbing back on the return path.
As they ascended the mountain again, they coincidentally met several local elderly ladies. They were walking together, slowly descending from the mountain, each carrying a basket woven from vines. The baskets contained a lot of incense, paper money, and homemade incense.
When Vera saw this, she asked politely, “Where are you ladies headed?”
One of the elderly ladies replied, “We heard that Quiant Monastery has reopened. We're going there to worship Buddha and burn incense.”
Vera asked curiously, “Has Quiant Monastery been closed for a long time?”
The elderly lady nodded and said, “It's been closed for about ten to twenty years. There are fewer and fewer people in the mountains, and the temple doesn't get many visitors. The nuns from before have all left. Yesterday, the villagers said new nuns have arrived, so we're going together to pay our respects.”
Vera quickly said, “You’d better not go, ladies. The new nuns at Quiant Monastery have also left.”
“They left as well?” The elderly ladies looked disappointed. “They only arrived a few days ago, why did they leave so soon?”
Vera said, “Perhaps they felt there weren't enough worshippers here.”
The elderly ladies felt somewhat disheartened and were momentarily unsure of what to do.

Meanwhile, on the expressway leading from Mount Tason to the outside world, three inconspicuous Buick vans were driving smoothly on the expressway. All these Buick vans had license plates from the capital of Yorkshire Hill, belonging to a well-known rental company in Oskia.
Buick vans were a rather common form of transportation in Oskia, which were widely used and not particularly eye-catching. No one would easily associate the passengers of these vans with being wealthy. However, apart from the Buick logo, these three vans had been significantly modified, enhancing their power, safety, privacy, and comfort.
The person driving the second Buick business van was the young nun who had intercepted Charlie and Vera at the foot of the mountain earlier. The abbess was sitting in the passenger seat.
In the second-row seats behind them sat the middle-aged woman referred to as ‘Madam’. She was the one who had especially left the agarwood bracelet that Charlie was currently holding and twirling around at Quiant Monastery.
