Upon hearing Vera's question, the abbess explained earnestly, “To be frank, Miss Lavor, the place you and Mr. Wade want to go is just fifty miles ahead. However, Miss Lavor, while you can go there and even Fleur Griffin can go there, Mr. Wade cannot go there.”
“Master, you know of Fleur?”
When Vera heard the abbess mention Fleur, she was even more astonished.
She couldn't understand the identity of this abbess, let alone why she had such extraordinary abilities. Knowing about Charlie and herself was one thing, but she even knew about Fleur’s existence.
Her being able to mention Fleur's name proved that she must have some understanding of Fleur's life story.
In other words, she must know that Fleur had lived from over three hundred years ago to today.
Vera was secretly terrified in her heart as she looked at the abbess, thinking, ‘She knows Fleur's secrets, so does she also know my secrets as well?’
The abbess, now dropping all pretense, calmly said, “I'll be frank with you, Miss Lavor. Fleur and the Qing Eliminating Society are also enemies of mine. Moreover, Fleur is personally powerful, and with the Qing Eliminating Society operating for three hundred years, their overall strength is almost unmatched.”
With that said, the abbess suddenly changed her tone, saying sternly, “However, compared to the person who is fifty miles away, Fleur is just a clown who has lived for over three hundred years.”
The abbess's words frightened Vera.
The abbess replied earnestly, “That's why I asked my disciple to invite you over instead of inviting Mr. Wade directly. I believe that you hold an irreplaceable importance in Mr. Wade's heart. It should be much better for you to persuade Mr. Wade than for me to do so."
Vera hesitated and said, “Mr. Wade is particularly looking forward to this trip to Mount Tason. He has many long-standing questions that he wants explained on this trip. I doubt he will agree if I suddenly persuade him to turn back.”
The abbess nodded and looked at Vera, saying, “If he continues moving forward, it will bring unforeseeable disasters to him and many innocent people. If Mr. Wade can temporarily set aside his hatred, he can win precious time for himself and gain more chances of success.”
After speaking, the abbess looked at Vera and said sincerely, “Miss Lavor, I have stated the grave circumstances to you. Whether Mr. Wade can be persuaded to turn back depends on you now.”
Vera looked at her with a hint of pleading in her voice as she said, “Master, I implore you to be more explicit. Mr. Wade is my benefactor. If his fate is truly such a calamity, even if I have to give up my life, I will do everything I can to save his life…”
