At that moment, Claudia seemed to be in a trance.
The image of her parents and brothers smiling at her looked so realistic.
Meanwhile, the raging fire of revenge was scorching her at such a close distance, and it even dried the tears that were streaming down her face.
In the past, this monstrous hatred had forced her to move forward alone with heavy responsibility.
Now, as her hatred disappeared along with this huge fire, she finally felt free for the first time in her life.
However, compared to her, Stephanie was trembling in fright as she watched a person screaming while he was burned alive.
She couldn't help burying her face in Charlie's arms and closing her eyes, refusing to watch. Nevertheless, Charlie patted her on the back and said gently, " Don’t be scared. This is what the world actually looks like."
Although Stephanie was an orphan, she had been taken in by the welfare institute a t a very young age. Growing up, she not only had Mrs. Lewis's care but also the protection of her friends.
The days were a little hard, but everyone had made sure that she didn't suffer grievances or experience any of the evil in the world.
This incident had helped Charlie realize that Stephanie didn't have a grasp over how evil this world could be.
Despite being in her twenties, her understanding of the world’s dark side couldn't compare to eighteen-^ear-old Claudia.
Also, if Claudia hadn't contacted him, Stephanie would have fallen prey to Gopher's vicious operation.
Hence, Charlie felt that she should learn how cruel the world could be so that she would be much more alert in the future.
Charlie said to them, "Both of you can stop thanking each other now. I’ll have a few female soldiers accompany you girls back t o the bridge to rest. I still have some things to take care of here."
Stephanie nodded, and Claudia glanced at Andre and the Italian organization members before asking Charlie, "Mr.
Wade... what do you plan to do with them?"
Charlie asked her, "What do you want me to do to them?"
Claudia shook her head. "I'm not sure either... I just think that although they have sinned, most of them don't deserve death...”
Charlie smiled. “You don't have to worry about that. I'll let them live and give them a chance to change for the better.”
