Charlie knew that at this moment, Gopher would be filled with the thoughts of the two million Canadian dollars he had promised tomorrow. Thus, Gopher wouldn't care about kidnapping Stephanie for the time being.
Things happened the way he had predicted, and the night passed safely and soundly without a single hiccup.
When Charlie woke up that morning, he received a phone call from Porter.
Porter said respectfully, "Mr. Wade. I and three hundred of my subordinates from Ten Thousand Armies have already arrived in Vancouver. We're ready to be at your disposal at any time!"
Charlie was startled. "Porter? Why are you here?"
Porter replied quickly, "There's nothing important in the Middle East for the time being. I know you're in urgent need of manpower, so I personally brought these men here."
As Porter spoke, he then asked, "Mr. Wade, feel free to give us your orders if you have any. We'll do our best to carry them out!"
Charlie said, "You should find a place to settle down first. Wait for my instructions."
Porter did not hesitate to say, "Okay, Mr. Wade. Feel free to contact me at any time!"
After hanging up, Charlie was about to wash up when he sensed that someone was eavesdropping at his door.
From the breathing rate and the way she moved, Charlie easily concluded that the eavesdropper was Claudia.
Before Claudia took notice, Charlie swung the door open in an instant.
Claudia, who was eavesdropping at the door, heard Charlie's movements. She could hear the sound of the door opening and readied herself to flee, but she was far too late. Charlie towered over her, sending her into a fluster. Embarrassed, she muttered, "Brother Charlie... I'm sorry... I..."
Charlie wasn't angry. He gave her a small smile and said gently, "Come in and talk if you have anything to tell me."
Claudia said, "Canada's already abolished the death penalty. If he pleads guilty, he should be receiving life imprisonment."
Charlie asked again, "Do you think that's reasonable?"
Claudia hesitated for a moment, her face a tangled expression. In the end, she nodded and said, "I think it is..."
Charlie said indifferently, "I don't.
His expression turned ice. "I don't have any disrespect for the law. But that man has the audacity to try and sell my sister, and the law's punishment is much too lenient for him. I will use my own ways to make him pay dearly!”
As he declared this, Claudia could see the majestic courage brimming in Charlie's fierce gaze. It was a look that denied and stomped down provocation of any kind, ferocious and unrelenting. Envy seeped in her: how fortunate Stephanie was to have a n elder brother like Charlie!
