The Lycan's Soul Mate novel Chapter 38

Luna was curled up in her bed with Luca on her mind when her thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock on the door. “Come in!” she shouted as she pulled a blanket to cover up herself. She was shocked to see Luca walk into her room. She thought it might have been one of the maids or even his dad’s partner who had been checking on her a lot since the whole tragedy. She quickly tried to cover herself up as she was wearing some short PJ’s and her hair was all messy.

Luca walked into the room and greeted her. He felt so bad that her uncle had died saving him. He didn’t know what to say to her. “Hi, I’m so glad that you’re ok. You look stronger than the last time I saw you.” She said as she smiled warmly at him. This reassured him and so he sat at the foot of her bed. “I’m so sorry. There was nothing that I could do. I’m still not completely healed and she had us in a sort of force field so the others couldn’t get inside as quickly as they should have. She attacked me and he just jumped in front of me and pushed me out of the way. It should have been me but he saved my life. He’s dead because of me.”

“Hey, I would have done the same thing. That’s what you do when you care about someone. You protect them at all cost. Luca, my uncle did what he had to do. What he felt was right. I don’t blame you. This is the life that we lead. We have responsibilities. My Uncle knew how important you are to our kind. He sacrificed himself for you. He knew what he was doing. So please stop feeling guilty. I have accepted and respect him so much for what he did. I am thankful that you are safe.” She slipped the cover off her and sat next to him at the foot of her bed and wrapped her arms around him.

She held him tight in her arms and ran her fingers through his hair as he cried on her shoulder. She felt a sort of relief that he shared her grief, her pain that he, in spite of being a prince and a future alpha was humble and caring and could bring himself to feel the pain of others. He was genuine. She could feel it. Luna wanted to keep holding him. She never wanted to let him go.

She came to her senses when he broke free of her embrace. “I’m so sorry. Here I am having you console me when I should be the one consoling you. How pathetic. That poison must have done more to me than I thought.” He said to her with a slight smile. She looked at him and smiled back. “Hey, it’s fine. Your presence here means more to me than you know. Bottom line I’m glad that my uncle did what he did. I would have been great if he survived but, honestly, I am thankful that you’re ok.”

“Really? You did? I’m so happy for you. Who is she then?” she asked nervously. Thinking that he had found his mate and that she stood no chance with him. Her eyes filled up with tears and her pulse started to race. He felt her nervousness. “Luna, are you crying? You know her better than even me. But before I tell you her name, I want you to be honest with me and tell me how you feel about me.” Luna couldn’t believe her ears. “What are you talking about?” she jumped off the bed and walked away from him and stood next to the terrace door forgetting that she was wearing her enticing sleepwear.

“Luna, are you afraid of me? Why did you run off like that? Why is it that every time I try to get close to you, you run off?” He walked up to her and held her in his arms, he held her tight in his arms and she tried to get free of his embrace but could not. “Her name is Luna, my beautiful white-haired love. When you’re ready you know where to find me.” Your uncle knew, so does my father. They’re who had to know. I wanted to give you time in case I was wrong. He planted a kiss on her forehead and left.
