THE LYCAN KING’S SECOND CHANCE MATE novel Chapter 368

CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY-FIVE.

ASHANTI'S POV.

“Leonard, once again I'm very sorry about Alpha Reagan's intrusion. It was very wrong of him to show up the way he did.” I apologize to Leonard for the umpteenth time as we take our seats at the table for two.

“And for the one thousandth time, it's fine. It's not your fault he showed up out of nowhere, so stop apologising.”

“It's just …” I sigh heavily, giving him a sorry look. “It's very embarrassing to recall. We were all dressed up and ready to leave and he just popped up from nowhere and started talking nonsense.”

“He wasn't talking nonsense.” He says calmly, quietly. My eyes widen as I stare at him in shock. He looks so calm and collected. There's not a single trace of anger or annoyance on his face or in his voice. He sounds okay. Like nothing happened back there. I'm about to say something when a waiter comes. The next minutes go by with us placing orders for our meal and drinks and we only look at each other again when the waiter leaves.

“So…” I clear my throat. “You think he wasn't talking nonsense?”

“I know he wasn't. The man was only expressing his feelings.”

“Expressing his feelings?” Now I'm a bit confused. Leonard leans against his seat and stares straight at me, smiling.

God!

He looks even more handsome when he smiles!

And did I tell you about how nice he smells? It's nothing compared to how Alpha Reagan smells, but still, it's good.

“He's in love with you and he doesn't like the fact that I'm taking you out on this date.” He calmly deciphers and his words explode on my face like fireworks.

I freeze.

Blood pauses in my veins.

Thick, searing head spreads from my head to my toes as I look at the man sitting across from me. I open my mouth to speak, but words fail me. I don't know what to say. I don't even have a voice anymore.

That completely threw me off balance.

“Oh…” Is all I manage after several moments of shock and silence.

“Yeah.” He nods. “But that's his problem.”

Leonard seems like a very nice guy and the last thing I want to do is lead him on when I know I'll never have anything to do with him. There's too much going on in my life. Adding a boyfriend to the list will make me run mad.

“I have absolutely no problem with that, Ashanti.” His right hand slides forward on the table and covers my left hand. The gentle stroking of his thumb against my flesh tickles my nerve endings. “I don't mind waiting till when you're ready. I don't mind going head on with the Lycan King for you. I like you. I want you and I will do my best to woo you for myself. I will be patient with you, okay?”

“Okay.” I answer with a small voice as I nod my head. “Thank you.”

“You have nothing to thank me for. I should be the one thanking you for allowing an ordinary man like myself, the opportunity to get close to you. This is an honor I will never forget.”

“You are not an ordinary man. If there's anyone who's ordinary between us, that person would be me, not you.”

“Stop playing.” He gently raises my hand to his lips and plants a soft kiss at the back of my palm. “You are a rare and precious gem. Alpha Reagan is a fool for not claiming you as his and marrying you right away!” Another gentle kiss before he lets go of my hand on the table.. “You are the woman of my dreams, Ash and if Alpha Reagan is not careful, I will make you mine on his watch. I'm a very determined man. I can achieve anything I set my mind to achieve, so he has to be aware of me.”

I’m a frozen, staring at him in awe.

Alpha Reagan will not like these words if they ever reach his ears.

I have a feeling that shit is about to go down!
