THE LYCAN KING’S SECOND CHANCE MATE novel Chapter 336

“I had to,” I reply dryly. The look in his eyes softens. He takes a dainty step forward, giving me a critical stare.

“You’ve done quite well for yourself, Ash. I was so worried and upset when you left, but after seeing all that you have accomplished in two years, I can't even stay mad at you. I'm so proud of you and what you've become. And right now, a part of me is happy that you left. You pursued a goal and achieved it. That's huge. Congratulations.”

Warmth pools in my belly, my lips curve into a brilliant smile as his charming words sink into my brain, lighting up my entire body like a lightbulb.

“Thank you,” I reply warmly, beaming at him.

“You are welcome.”

“What about Tessa? How's she doing? She must hate me very much.”

“Hate is a very strong word. She's indeed upset with you, but she doesn't hate you. She'll be thrilled to see you again after all this time.”

“I look forward to seeing her too. I'll go to her one of these days.”

“You should do that.” His eyes go over my shoulders and I follow them behind me and notice that he's looking at Ryan who seems quite uninterested in our conversation. He's busy admiring the mansion together with the guards and they are engaged in a low-tuned conversation.

“Who's he? I mean the younger guy.”

“He's my younger brother. His name is Ryan.” I turn to Ryan and call him over. When he arrives, I breathe in relief when he takes the initiative to bow to Kyle.

Ryan can be very unpredictable at times.

“Ryan, meet Delta Kyle. We uh… we used to be good friends before I left the pack. Delta Kyle, meet my handsome, brilliant, and aloof brother, Ryan.” I introduce the two men to each other.

“Nice to meet you, Ryan.” Delta Kyle says, stretching out his hand towards Ryan for a handshake. Ryan shoots me a scowl before shaking the hand and I purse my lips to suppress my laughter.

“The pleasure is mine, Delta.”

It's not often that I get the chance to taunt him. I can never miss the opportunity when it presents itself.

A ringing sound cuts through the atmosphere and Delta Kyle quickly dips his hand into his suit jacket and takes out his phone. Both Ryan and I step away to give him privacy to take his call.

It's a brief call that lasts barely a minute.

“Oh please… look at the ease with which he got you to move here instead of your designated apartment. It's just a matter of time before he bundles you to his castle.”

“Are you calling me cheap?”

“Don't put words in my mouth. All I'm saying is, you cannot run from your destiny.”

“What the hell do you mean by that?’

“You two are fated mates. Yes, there have indeed been some rough times. Rough times and you have this very big grudge against him which is justifiable and valid, but this is fate we are talking about. Do you honestly think it's simply by chance that you happened to choose fashion and design as your career path which has now led you into this competition which is being hosted in this pack?” My brows crease. Further confusion. “This is fate bringing the two of you together again and we all know you can't win a fight against fate. What will be will be!” He flashes me a queer smile. I open my mouth to say something, to object to every word he just uttered but he hastens his footsteps, leaving me behind.

Damn, his sharp mouth!

“You do know he's not far from the truth, right?” Lena chimes in from nowhere and I angrily block her out.

They are wrong.

Alpha Reagan and I can never be together again. It's over between us and it will stay that way.
