THE LYCAN KING’S SECOND CHANCE MATE novel Chapter 279

TESSA'S POV.

Ashanti didn't mean it.

She couldn't possibly mean those words she said to me this morning when I went to see her. She has been locked up for almost twenty-four hours now and I'm sure she's frustrated by the whole experience, that's why she said all those things back there.

She couldn't possibly want to leave Alpha Reagan. She loves him to bits. I see in her eyes, I hear it in her voice and her actions speak louder than any “I love you” confession she could ever say to him. I saw the excitement in her eyes when she told me after Reagan wanted her to move in with him after making their relationship official. They are meant to be together, forever and this is just one of those challenges our parents always talked about. It will pass and they will be together again.

That, I believe.

A knock on the office door snaps me out of my thoughts. The door creaks open and my precious mate makes a graceful entrance in.

“Hey baby.” He calls, smiling from molar to molar as usual.

“Hey…” I say, rising to my feet.

“One of the guards just told me the girls have arrived and have been taken into the other office where you will address them.” His announcement makes me smile.

The moment I left the dungeon after seeing Ashanti, I came straight to Kyle’s office where I gave him the list of girls I needed to talk with. I knew gathering these girls by myself would be a mission impossible as they all despise me, that's why I recruited Kyle.

One summons from him and the girls came rushing over.

We also decided to hold the meeting here, in the building where the Royal offices are located since it's highly secure and our conversation won't be overheard by any prying ears.

“Right.” I exhale heavily and smile up at him. “Wish me luck.”

He leans closer and plants a gentle kiss on my lips that sends tingles from my head through my spine, to my toes. My face twists in disappointment when he breaks the kiss. This is why I hate when he kisses me during times like this. I never want him to stop.

“I know you don't want me to stop, but we have a Luna to fight for.”

A chuckle bubbles out of my chest as I give him a playful smack on his chest, my face red with embarrassment. He never fails to do this to me.

So unfair.

“See you later.”

“Slay them all, baby.”

I'm laughing like an idiot as I rush out of the office. Kyle is a clown!

The guard outside his door leads me to the office which is three doors away and I go in alone. The moment I step in, the girls, six in number, all look at me like I've grown two heads. Some are shocked, some look greatly displeased to be while others are just bored.

“I hope you'll have a very good reason to give Alpha when he summons you again to ask why you left the meeting without hearing what I had to say.” She stops in her tracks and swivels around to look at me. Her face is dark with an ugly emotion. I lighten the mood with a smile. “He’s not going to take it lightly with you when you tell him you left because you didn't want to discuss with a tramp.”

“Are you threatening me?”

“No. I'm not. I'm just telling you to sit down and listen to what I have to say. It's important, not just to me, but to all of you seated here.” My words somehow convince her and she walks back to her seat. The six girls turn their gazes to me, indicating that they are ready to hear what I have to say.

I sigh, shut my eyes close and take a moment to gather my bearings.

I can do this.

When I snap my eyes open, their unimpressed looks are still on me, but I smile regardless.

“I understand that you girls do not like Ashanti for one reason or another, but if there's something you all can agree with me on, it's the fact that Ashanti is a really good person and you honestly have no reason to dislike her the way you do.” A laugh cuts through the atmosphere and I turn to the girl responsible for that.

“We have no reason to hate Ashanti? Are you fucking serious right now? We know you're her best friend, but that doesn't mean you should ignore all the atrocities she has been committing ever since she got here.”

“Atrocities she committed?” My look turns dark. “You mean the atrocities you girls committed and found a way to make it look like she was the one who committed them?”

They all exchange confused looks.
