“What about the general public? Are you going to lie and say you have no idea how the news reached the media?”
“You honestly think I'll put myself out there under everyone's scrutiny?”
Here we go. More lies.
“It's your favourite place to be, Alina. You like being out there in the public, the centre of attention, the topic of discussion. You enjoy when people glorify you out there!”
“Just because of this I've received threatening letters from people I don't even know. I just want my baby to be safe. I won't risk it's life for anything! Not even my desire to be with you. So no, I didn’t do what you are accusing me of doing. You should stop barking up the wrong tree and find out who the real culprit is.”
“I don't need to do that because she's standing right here, in front of me.”
“I will not stand here and listen to you levy all these baseless accusations against me.”
“Baseless accusations?” I look ahead and scoff in frustration before plastering my heated gaze back on her face. “If you didn’t defy my orders, one of these would not be happening.”
“I’m done arguing with you. Call me when you're calm and we'll have a proper conversation where we aren't yelling at each other.” She turns to leave but I grab her right arm and spin her around abruptly and with so much force that she crashes against my body, screaming at the top of her voice in fear.
“Tss…” I exclaim, shaking my head. “I know the words I said to you this morning entered your right ear and got out through the left so let me remind you of them. I will never choose you as my Luna. Not even with a gun pointed to my head. You will never have a place in my heart or in my home. If you like, rally every fucking Lycan or werewolf in this world against me, their riots, objections and obscene suggestions will not sway me even for a single second. You are playing with fire and if you don't stop, it'll consume you. End all this madness now and I'll have mercy on you.”
“There's no madness to end!” She sneers, trying to fight me off but I hold her still. “I'm fighting for my right as the woman carrying the future Alpha of this pack.”
“Future heir.” I push away from me and start chuckling. “Future heir indeed.” I rake my fingers through my hair and shoot her a murderous glare. “Alina get the fuck out of my office before I lose my mind and do something I'll regret.” I order and she swivels on her heels and storms out of the office, sobbing like a child.
I have never regretted a decision in my life as much as I regret ever bringing this girl close to me.
